No for gods sakes, the worst idea i have ever heard.
Better: Provide a more convenient way of getting games. Online sales is a good example. Provide demos and benchmarkers as well. And don't fill them with DRM, that means a good chunk of the pirates will just buy the game.
And bring down prices or boost value. Games are too expensive, that's why piracy exists.
Come on guys, it wasn't that bad.
As Slashdot has proven, good community moderation/metamoderation can let just a few people manage a massive site.
Which is exactly why this won't work. [editline]05:59PM[/editline] People will rate down bogus torrents, they will complain in the comments, they will report the uploader, eventually getting them IP banned.
This is not effective at all. Comments in the torrents exist, and you can see the torrent's content...
Come on guys, it wasn't that bad.
OP did not really think it through rationally or realistically.
OP did not think.
fix'd that for you.
Most torrenting sites have an approval system where users can comment and rate the torrent. People could easily demo torrents and post if its real or not.
Relevant.
OP, even though it won't work, you can try. In fact, I dare you to try. Have fun uploading.

REAL pirates are members of private communities that are nearly impossible to enter without connections. There are enough shit torrents out there and they don't deter people. Having more shit torrents isn't the answer. Besides...the real enemies of these greedy ass companies are the REAL pirates, and they'll never be stopped.
I think the first thing you should ask yourself when coming up with a theory is this... "Is it possible that anyone else has came up with a similar idea, and why didn't it work?"
Do it the Valve way. Don't give a flying fuck and don't bother with a DRM.
Huh? Steam is a DRM, just not an annoying one.
There are private torrent sites as torrentleech and stuff
The day where pirating is stopped is the day the world ends. Long live the pirate bay!
Only way to stop piracy, is to enslave all humans.
why whould you want to stop piracy?
Make games cheaper. :<
/thread, sort of. Some games, I am willing to pay full price for (Mass Effect 2, BFBC2, except I got that for $30), but games like MW2 and Splinter Cell Conviction are way TOO high. Why should they be priced $10 more than any other game when the other games are better?
I agree. This is a cool idea.
