Didn't they say that you can customize your starship?
You can add various weapons, shields, etc etc to the outside of your ship for space combat. It was confirmed that you cannot decorate the inside of your ship. Although that may change after launch. Only six ships will be available and they'll be class specific.

Haha, you're being spoon fed like a baby in this game compared to how player driven EvE is. A game that mostly consists out of designed stories and scenarios isn't 100% player driven.
