Can something be done about this "cursed image" shit in LMAO pics? Three straight pages of people lazily baiting reactions with shit that doesn't even remotely constitute as funny. It's just getting obnoxious at this point.
Biggest issue is that it's the same rehashed "Haha look ketchup on banana slices" which is low-grade cursed imagery. Any of the good stuff starts teetering on nsfw territory
I like the cursed image trend but I don't think I've set foot in an LMAO Pics for like 3 years at this point unless I was banning someone lol.
Maybe just put a limit on the number of reactions?
Say, 5?
Sixth reaction poster gets banned.
Cause I go to lmao pics for the funnies, not an entire page of people reacting to something unsavory
(it's funny for a while but gets old after enough reaction images)
Honestly I enjoy both the cursed images and the reaction pics.

[del]There are some funny ones, but the shit like the guy with the thumb-drive full of child porn isn't funny in the slightest, nor is a semi anatomically accurate furry sex doll. You have my full support to drop the nuke.[/del]
I think since these cursed image episodes only seem to last a few pages each time we should respect that different people find different things funny and just live with it by scrolling past it really quick and waiting for the stuff to end.
That honestly makes more sense. We should just wait for it to clear out before doing anything drastic, otherwise we're going to have another bit of drama for nothing.

Every other meme goes on for at least 2 or 3 pages, why is this different?
where'd that guy go? NeoDement? He used to be ubiquitous around here
yeah I got over 18k posts, pretty ridiculous, my post per day count used to be through the roof
She does from time to time, nowhere near as much as she used to. See them pop up in the emporium thread every now and then but like most people from the early years of that thread, they've moved on.
moved on to the emporium discord where I do the exact same thing as before :v
Feels like this thread has the power to resurrect the dead sometimes.

Very thought provoking position on the issue, albeit a very controversial one. Unfortunately, all for the wrong reasons. It makes sense, but nobody's going to listen to it.

Kinda random to post gibberish then just leave.
has there been any thought on controlling ratings, maybe on a per thread basis? i personally have them turned off when logged in, but seeing threads like the cuckholding SH thread where many posts have the same 6 or so dumbs from the same 6 people it seems like.... excessive? im not even seeing any or many posts from these people either.
or maybe its just an issue with the dumb rating in general, calling someone an idiot with the click of a button is much easier than having to reply. when all of your posts in a thread get dumbed by one person, it could be seen as more of attacking you than what you're saying, because theres no way to gauge a response
it just seems to create a more hostile environment for discussion especially. i mean you can just "not care about ratings" but for newer users it might be a big turn off to ever posting

which is why they should lurk first and get a feel for the environment, and if they don't like it, go somewhere else
Ratings are there to complement posts. Do not complain about getting bad ratings. You’re an idiot, deal with it.

The absolute last thing this forum needs are people who care about ratings so much so, that it directly prohibts them from speaking their mind.
I mostly ignore ratings and focus more on the content of the posts that are directed at me. Perhaps those new users would be wise to take the same hint. You never learn anything if you always feel as if you're under attack.
completely agree. the one thing i wanted to highlight though was learning, because i feel like its very hard to learn from such vague engagements with posts, especially if your post does not see any replies. at that point you're guessing as to what you said could have been dumb/disagreeable/etc (or if the user just doesnt like you in particular)
i just think a more controlled environment for ratings use in places where discussion is encouraged like SH could be benneficial. polidicks having only stars is a good example
Hey guys, dumb question here. I sync'd my account with Newpunch and made a very terrible assumption that the old name would go along with it... so I typed something random in the name field. Am I correct in thinking I am now stuck with my new name despite my account having been sync'd? Because I'd love to keep my name for obvious reasons.

Is the reason you love your insurance company?
Edit: [sp]Of course the doctor gets my joke :D[/sp]
Is the reason you love your insurance company?
It's more about the 10 years or so I've been using it than anything else.
Spamming ratings is already bannable, doesn't need to go further than that imo
When are you bringing back Smartness???
When are you bringing back Smartness???
wow this joke never stops being funny wow wow
When are you bringing back Smartness???
can we add "smartness isnt coming back" to the thread op :why:
Smartness is banned forever.
You just have to realize that the people rating everything and not commenting themselves are completely useless non-entities in the discussion. Maybe one day they themselves will realize this, but until then they're just gonna stay useless. Ignore it.

It allows for people to comment without having to waste threadspace(? is that a thing?) with like 30 dudes going "I agree with what you said" or "That was funny" and so on
on a vaguely related note I just want to say how great of an idea ratings are. this is the only forum I've seen which isn't absolutely clogged with shitpost replies like
+1

lol

this!!!1
but also it's less judgemental than up/downvote or rep systems

30 seconds late
The rating system here on facepunch is one of its best features.
Why is this okay?

Can this stop, I'm tired of individually adblocking people's shitty avatars and titles?

Good god, even I'm not nearly that bad.
do people actually fill in the [reason for edit] field when editing their post?
does it matter?
