Everyone used to be able to see edit reasons. It was mostly used for laughs, but it was pretty abusable

In regards to SH and polidicks, I noticed an increasing trend of people saying "please ignore user X they don't debate properly."

And while it is true that some users do have the reasoning capabilities of a sack of worms, this kind of dismissal seems a little toxic at times.

Im curious to see what others think about it

They do work, you're just likely using them wrong.

If you want to embed a stream you use [noparse][twitchan]channel name here[/twitchan][/noparse] if you want to embed a clip then its [noparse][twitch]clip ID here[/twitch][/noparse]

So like:

[twitchan]reagynyan[/twitchan]
[twitch]TriumphantCrowdedPandaPeanutButterJellyTime[/twitch]

The only thing that can't be directly embedded is twitch videos, it uses a really weird embed code so it was never included and you can't use the vid tags with those either as they are actual media streams, not video files.

If you're ever confused on how the bbcode works then [url]https://facepunch.com/misc.php?do=bbcode[/url] is your best friend.

Weird they did that, they're just iframes to their player which I don't even think uses webgl.

I don't know, sometimes it's warranted. I can think of a couple users who derail threads for pages and pages on pointless crap and I'd rather everyone recognize this tactic and ignore those people.

There's a few folk out there who are simply incapable of admitting that they're wrong, even after being disproved by data, sources and whatnot. When they do it 5-6 times, it gets tiring because their posts are just uninformed drivel that derails interesting threads. It really is skirting the line with censorship, but sometimes you just have to say "this guy's wrong, his argument's wrong, his premise is wrong and unless he can recognize that, there's no point arguing".

There is really no point in bringing up censorship as an issue because this is a forum. People are “censored” all the time because we have rules and policies in place that do not allow certain things to be said.

That being said, no, we don’t have a problem with people saying that so and so is not a good debater. If it means that more people ignore them and carry on with the thread as normal then it’s a good thing. As long as it’s left there. If you were to continue to disparage the user after that in multiple posts, then it’d probably start delving into off topic territory.

It’s expected when someone makes a silly or dumb post. It’s always been that way. People will be quick to call them out on it. There’s not really a point to banning people for it.

Note, however, that a lot of what happens in SH and Polidicks can be circumstantial, so it really depends on context whether or not a post or string of posts warrants moderator intervention. But in general, those are our stances on both of those types of situations.

If titles come back on Newpunch they need to be way more restricted. Using markdown they could have simple stuff like italics and links (maybe colored text somehow) and that's fine enough. CSS, large-images-as-second-avatars and mega-titles can lay to rest here, and yeah I'm probably a killjoy for saying this but that's how I feel.

Is it possible to embed Instagram posts? I tried with [noparse][media][/media][/noparse] tags but it just gives a link. Can't imagine it being to hard to add to the BBCode system considering it gives you the embed code on each post.

At least I make mine look nice and interactive (and reasonable about avatar size). I don't personally have a problem with large titles so long as it's not fuck huge red text.
