[QUOTE=WitheredGryphon;53105545]To add to this it’d be nice if we had a sub forum “playground” of sorts for API and script developers to test their stuff on (ie test threads, posts, etc.)
Some scripts would be a lot harder to develop like the one you mentioned because you’d have to test it by posting in actual threads, so having the ability to test projects freely would be helpful from a developer standpoint.
I know this isn’t the best example but the closest thing I can think of is something like the /r/test subreddit[/QUOTE]
Just use the meta subfourm
[QUOTE=highvoltage;53105662]Just use the meta subfourm[/QUOTE]
As long as Meta is still around after the migration and isn’t as strictly rule-enforced as the other subforums I’m alright with that. Just having some dedicated place to test scripts and projects, whether that stays as Meta or becomes a new subforum
[QUOTE=highvoltage;53105662]Just use the meta subfourm[/QUOTE]
We'd definitely need to clear that with Garry first to be safe.
Also on the topic of a bbcode/markdown script, it looks like it's not too difficult to at least retrieve the code for the current post you're trying to make. I clicked a random thread ([url]https://forum.facepunch.com/f/meta/rrzv/You-can-do-post-without-content/1/[/url]) and quoted a random post from it then had a look at local storage. Under localStorage["post/reply/rrzv"] (rrzv being the thread id, as you can see in the url) I got this:
[code]"{\"ops\":[{\"insert\":{\"postquote\":{\"text\":\"\\n \\n ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬\\n \\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t** * ******** ****\\n ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬\\n \\n \\n\",\"forumid\":\"48\",\"threadid\":\"260955\",\"postid\":\"4752713\",\"postnumber\":\"29\",\"username\":\"aeeh\",\"userid\":\"145200\"}}},{\"insert\":\"asdf\\n\"}]}"[/code]
which is the post I quoted plus a few letters I typed in as a test. I haven't looked into it too terribly much just yet but simply updating that localstorage value isn't enough to update your current post though, at least not without refreshing the page first.
Edit: It seems like simply editing the html contents of .ql-editor updates the localstorage value so it probably also means that you can simply edit that element to produce a post as well. I may experiment with it a bit tomorrow or the day after if I get the time and see what I can come up with.

Maybe Garry could make a "Sandbox" subforum for the Meta forum where people can make test threads, kind of like how the SFM forum is currently a subforum of the Valve forum over at Newpunch.
You could [URL="https://forum.facepunch.com/f/meta/rqqe/Facepunch-API-and-Gamemodes-Forgotten-or-To-Be-Transferred/"]repurpose[/URL] the old, hidden and unusable [URL="https://facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=374"]Facepunch API[/URL] subforum, which is still hanging around.
[QUOTE=Mezzokoko;53056778]Contrary to popular belief we DON'T sweep issues under the rug, pretty much any major thing gets discussed in mod chat. Just because we don't come to the same conclusion as you, doesn't mean we don't care about it.[/QUOTE]
It's not like we have any way of knowing.
I don't see why a forum, built around open discussion, would feel the need to relegate such topics solely to private channels.
Is asking for live streams of certain sporting events such as a major sporting game that makes reference to a giant apparatus you use to hold food items such as cereals and spaghetti considered warez?
I don’t think so. The Superbowl is usually available on basic cable in America for free.
As long as whatever site is linked isn’t like a huge hub for other warez content, I don’t see the problem.
Just need to know what streams are good for tomorrow is all and I don't really trust trying to find it some on 4chan /sp/

Looks like it should stream on here tomorrow? NBC usually streams it for free. Someone else might know better tho, I don't really watch too much football lol.

I live in Australia so anything from NBC is geo-locked for me by default
Well fuck.
Someone else might know, I don't know to be sure that stuff would show up for you. I don't know shit about the internet.

Get a VPN for the day?
I was just looking at the Reporting options here (that little button under the avatar) and I noticed that the options available are kind of sparse. Considering that mods can ban people for false reporting (which then appears to be cleared up in the case of misunderstandings in the RC and unbanned, wasting everyone's time) and the categories I've commonly seen for banning have been common enough to warrant inclusion, such as :
* "Shitposting/Thread shitting"
* "Memeshit"
* "Rude/ Raging"
* "Offtopic"
* "Callouts"
* "Reaction image/video/Image Macro"
* "Cares about/Reacting to Ratings"
and a few more that I cannot recall, can the current one be upgraded to include these, or atleast for an option to enter a message when reporting? I don't have any need to report anything right now, just felt that it'd help the mods clear up misunderstandings about why a user reported a comment from the get go and make things a little clearer.
I think they've said nothing is being changed about the report feature until newnewpunch. You can just use any of the options when reporting a post if none of them quite cover it, mods can usually tell what you're reporting for
and when they can't you get the opportunity to explain in your RC thread :v:
how many times have the report function been brought up?
to the point where it's even mentioned in the qna

Support for these fourms is dead, there is a reason Garry made a whole new fourms software from scratch

This is still nowhere close to fully working but so far I'm having some luck, though this is the easier part. It currently only parses basic text, quotes, and embedded images but doesn't update the actual post contents at all which will be the more complicated part. Though it does at least update the top portion if you type in the bottom portion.
The big question is whether my userscript updating the bottom portion, once I get to that point, will actually count as a submittable post as far as Newpunch is concerned.

It looks like after that recent discussion they're taking to pming to discuss it first.
I accidentally closed the Hezzy bday notice and now I'm sad :-(
The text boxes to type posts quick replies in threads and profiles just disappeared for me completely for a few moments; clicking "Go advanced" lead me to a page without the text boxes as well.
I did the old trusty "turn it off and back on" again method, everything seems to fixed itself. If something like that happens again, should I report it at all, and if so, how?

Maybe they should make a version which uses BBCode instead of Markdown. I don't get why everyone lauds Markdown as the end-all be-all anymore when it's so lacking in UX. I mean who would ever think !()[URL] is more intuitive than [img]URL[/img] for embedding an image or !(LINK TEXT)[URL] is more intuitive than [noparse][url=URL]LINK TEXT[/url][/noparse] for a link? It's unintuitive garbage.
bbcode is based on html syntax so its more intuitive for people who know html, markdown is designed to be human readable to an extent, but it fails horribly in my opinion. that and there's not really any one standard for markdown. the same is true for bbcode but pretty much every forum has settled on one set of codes for bbcode and that just hasnt happened yet with markdown
Hey here's an idea: automatic GIF conversion to WEBM uploaded to Imgur/some hosting site if it exceeds a certain size for Newpunch. (It's pretty obvious what thread gave me this idea)

github flavored markdown is pretty much the biggest in terms of adoption
which is now just commonmark plus some stuff
Personally I wouldn't mind the awkwardness of the posting mechanics in newpunch if the performance was as good as oldpunch
I never really had any performance trouble posting in Newpunch, is it a mobile issue?

Thread V. 5 link in the OP is busted, or the thread was deleted can't really tell.
Is there a way to refresh the status of your newpunch account?
can't access GMF because I migrated my account before getting gold
