Looks like someone went a few characters above the title limit

Anyone else seeing this page-breaking title?

[editline]a[/editline] Fuck
custom titles were a mistake

Yeah Snicker has all but consumed this thread.

Guys it's just a new feature to encourage you to read threads faster. Everything's more fun if you're under pressure to read it while it whizzes by.
not as good as mine, sorry
This is why I'll never have a title
[editline]3[/editline]
In fact I'll make that my title.
[editline]4[/editline]
wait
welp, the steam authorization thing now refuses to accept that I have an account already, and making a new one doesn't work because my old one has already been migrated to a newpunch account.
Not sure if anything is going to be done about it (or if garry even cares) with Newpunch coming soon, but for some reason the Twitch embed on this post: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1588164&p=53139347&viewfull=1#post53139347 autoplays upon loading the page. Just a bit annoying.

Doesn't on my computer
although the good embed is just [twitchan]
[twitchan]VIDYAGAEMAWARDS[/twitchan]

Ok, so the default media embed for twitch doesn't specify an autoplay parameter,
good ol' night

I doubt this could be fixed, but the twitchan embed actually does set autoplay to false, so please tell people to use that instead

here's a tip: if somebody loses a bet to you and has to buy you a title, make sure that you pick what the title is
learned that one from experience

Too bad the link is dead though
Too bad the link is dead though
it was just a screencap of me telling the person that they lost the bet and had to buy me a title; nothing special
tbh I wouldn't mind if titles stayed as text, some of the bigger or flashier ones can get distracting
I kind of wish we could still rate in the refugee camp.

Not to egg people on, but to give moderators feedback on their decisions.
I'm pretty sure that one of the stated reasons for the removal of rating in RC was because mods didn't want feedback on their decisions
I'm pretty sure that one of the stated reasons for the removal of rating in RC was because mods didn't want feedback on their decisions
I'm pretty sure it was mostly because people kept giving attention to trolls who kept reregistering constantly then making rc threads when they got banned.
I wouldn't be too surprised if its demoralizing as a mod to see the ratings favoring the person they're handling, or that it psychologically encourages being more lenient if someone is well liked in their RC ratings
An oldpunch issue, but does anyone else have the problem where CSS / images won't load (properly) on mobile? If I select "use desktop site" on mobile chrome, it does work

Cloudflare issue, it's becoming pretty common, it's directly related to the useragent of the browser
I believe I first hit the issue maybe a year ago when I still used a PSP useragent override

Thing is, those cases were very scarce, and for bans deemed unfair (which would now be discussed here I guess). 99% of the time ratings were favouring the mod, and it gave the idea that neither the mod or the community wanted that shit to happen, and I bet it helped swaying some minds in some bans.
About people giving attention to them, it was back when the 1-thread limit didn't exist, so right now it wouldn't be the same. Hadn't thought of people registering alts just for that, and I could still be an issue, but... Maybe closing and DDTing those threads? Idk, that's a fair point.
Apologies for my absence, I've been away doing various training for my other job. I'm back now though.
At the risk of beating a dead horse, the whole "cares about ratings" / "banned for rating funny and being an edge lord" thing is just a bit silly. I think we should reword the "cares about ratings" ban reason. We're not banning people because they care about ratings (why would we even have them if we didn't want people to care about them?) but rather people shouldn't be posting stuff like "RATE MY POST FUNNY" or complaining "WHY U RATING ME DUMB". The rating system is great to react to posts without having to post yourself and is good to receive feedback on what people think of your posts.
As for the rating school shootings funny and the like, I don't really understand why you would do this but the rule was on the old set of rules and none of the Moderators wanted to change it when we were discussing them back then. I don't really have any strong feelings on it either way, my personal opinion is that if people want to rate things in bad taste then they should be free to do so. It just makes them look like a prick. I don't think banning people is a proportionate response.
That being said, it still remains a rule and people should follow that rule until it is removed
I haven't gotten a birthday notification in like 6 years.
Clearly it's because I hate you
Nah for some reason it doesn't work for everyone. The system is set to display that message each year on people's listed date of birth. I can't reproduce the issue and can't find anything in common with the accounts experiencing it
That's vBulletin for you

Is there any way to prevent banned users from seeing the ratings?
When I've asked in the past the reason for removing them was to prevent people shitposting just to get ratings. Hiding them might do something.
is sci-hub considered warez?

You'll have to expand on that, what is it?

According to Wikipedia, it's a web service that uses proxies within institutions to allow its users to access scientific research, journals, papers (etc), without having to pay to buy them individually (papers typically cost, on average $30).
It's the kiss-anime for research

That sounds like it'd get us DMCA'd so yes, it would be classed as warez
