Can we community fund this? Operation make Kiwi go the fuck to sleep.
Never thought we'd have to use the community fund on a rubber mallet.
RIP kiwi. Hoping to see you on newpunch <3
Oh jeeze, I didn't think she was that bad lately. If you're reading this Kiwi, I hope you feel better.
RIP kiwi. Hoping to see you on newpunch <3
I give it two weeks. That's usually what happens when people ask for a perma or do it themselves. You see them in RC a couple of weeks later asking to be unbanned.

I've talked to her the past hour or so and she decided to take a break for her own good. I hope you guys will understand her decision and respect her need for space right now.
Yeah it's ok, it was a little unexpected for some of us but we understand, no worries.
Damn, Kiwi was one of my favourite moderators. I wish her good luck and best wishes in her endeavors.

Get better soon.
Ay, I don't even know what a discord is. kiwis a sound poster tho :( Get well soon
Get better soon Kiwi <3
Slightly related to the drama, but where do people get the idea that Facepunch is a hellhole ran by nazi mods? Did they just not lurk at all to understand that bans are warnings, or do they just expect nothing but a finger-waggle for flagrantly shitposting only to be surprised when something actually happens?

It's bound to happen regardless of actual forum quality. Not saying they're aren't legitimate reasons for hating / liking forums, it's just that people often have a sense of pride in their own forums and have a bit of a sports team mentality with it

Fewer give enough of a shit to correct them off-site. The few legitimate cases of incorrect bans just strengthens the twisted narrative. [editline]edit[/editline] That, and we are generally stricter than most sites, so someone who's used to getting off with just warnings is usually in for a rude awakening.

Age old trend.
FP used to be way more strict (/loose lmao) with banning because real bans were, and continue to be, the warning system. It hurts getting banned out of nowhere, especially when you don't realize what you were doing to get banned (which, if you knew it you usually wouldn't be doing it, right?) and if you can't post on FP for the time, why not complain about it to people who aren't invested/aware of the place and would give you the pity points you need [editline]e[/editline] wow I was slow to post this, still this enforces the fact also I heard about the discord drama this morning and man that was a laugh reading the reddit thread. Can't imagine what these people would say if they saw garry's twitter and blog

It does seem more productive to me to, in the instance of an off topic post, a post in the wrong forum, etc, warn the user first, manually delete the off topic post or move the thread, then ban if it becomes an ongoing issue. But in terms of staff time and developing processes to manage that well it becomes a bit more difficult than a single ban

You'll notice the quality people have the fewest bans while the people that everyone dislikes have the most.
Love you Kiwi. Anyway I think a lot of people take immediate offense to a ban because they're used to being hand-held if something goes wrong. They get a "warning", get to question it and it just becomes a waste of time in some instances. A ban hammers it in that "Hey, you did this and it wasn't the right thing - don't do it again". Most of the rules/posting netiquettes can be learned just by lurking for a little bit, and making sure you read the stickies.
My method is just don't post and I don't get banned.
My method is just don't post and I don't get banned.
my method is to just make good posts every time
My method is just to make someone else's post look bad so mine looks good in comparison.
my method is to just make good posts every time
You smell.... nice. See there you go.
I'm not surprised at all at the comments on Reddit, I feel that Reddit has always been full of exceptionally rude people who have no problem being very aggressive and hateful. It's part of why I like this place so much, things are generally rather chill.

Some of the more niche/focused subreddits aren't as bad as, say, the most common Subreddits.

Going back to the drama for a second... He's just victim playing in order to get sympathy and people to his cause. There's a reason I banned him from the FP Discord and the GmodStore discord - cause he causes drama and was spam inviting people to his Discord. But he's just gonna keep going with the "woe is me" card, and the only way to beat it is to ignore it, or call him out on it.
