No? From my personal experience "why reply" is when you say things aren't news or when you just say something like "lol" without context. He was asked to point out an instance where somebody said something, which he did by quoting, then said lol.

In the last 30 days, not including month long bans for history, there have only been two people banned for more than 3 days for shitposting/threadshitting. One of them explicitly mentions post history as well.

I'd argue your ban was longer than precedent establishes but I'm not really interested in backseat moderating, just establishing that one day bans for shitposting are the norm.

Well the 'lol' is basically just being a smartass, which is low effort posting. So the way I see it is the quote is what it is, but from the past posts he made it seems like his making personal attacks, e.g. 'silence is as one-dimensional as ever'. And that quote he made to answer someone else with a single word added is just being snide.

The post really drives home that everytime you take the piss or laugh at someone on the internet there's always a human being behind a screen and it's really easy to forget that when everyone has dumb usernames and anime avatars.
I hope he can turn things around and start posting regularly again. He posted some cool content sometimes.
He's very knowledgeable on old computers and obsolete media formats. I frequently asked for his help with some of my equipment.
Garry still hasn't fixed GitHub auth on the new forums smh.
