Oh hey, they have a live version of their Colors album, here's the first 2 songs of it. They sound just like they do on the album, it's amazing.

Watch in HD, it's worth it.
A live version of a song that sounds identical to the album version is most certainly not amazing.

It is when it has the level of complexity that these guys put into their music.

Honestly, that's pretty bad. It sounds really strained and there's no power or emotion behind it like on the recording.
I suck at harsh vocals too though so you have every right to not listen to me.
Just got Alaska. It's not bad.
I just can't wait for their next album. I read somewhere that they were Recording.
I let my one friend listen (he is into all the popular shit music like 3oh3, rihanna, devil wears prada, shit like that) and as soon as he hears growling, he called it screamo. :ssj:
Educate him.
I try to show him the difference, but he is really one dimensional on terms of genres. Anything with screaming or growling to him is screamo, a movie with guns is an action movie, things like that, and he pretty much just yells at you no matter what you say.

yeah. they started yesterday.

Well at least I know I'm not alone. According to the musically ignorant people at my school, Metallica is an emo band, Linkin Park is Metal, and they're completely unaware that I'm on a boat is a parody of rap videos.
But he can't yell at you if he's dead!
As a fellow drummer, I think that Blake is one of the best current drummers around. He's probably my favorite at the moment just because of his speed and technicality.
But on topic. I love freaking BTBAM. Especially the pig squeals in Roboturner. Wish they used more squeals in Colors. Still amazing anyways.
BTBAM is my #2 band
BTBAM is my #2 band
Who's your #1?
Mediocre in term's of other bands that come under this genre.
Never understood the massive hype alot of people give them.

In terms of being progressive metal (which it is): They're pretty good, and Alaska and Colors are good albums that deserve a buy/listen.
In terms of being metalcore (which it isn't): They're the best metalcore band ever.
Protest The Hero is awesome.
Protest The Hero's vocalist sounds pretty far out, but the music's good (Heretics and killers, y'all remember that one dontcha). Their last album's songs were nothing special [the album was fortress(?)], a lot of them sounded the same.
Someone make an As I Lay Dying megathread. That would be the shit.
Will be interesting to hear the "Metallica - Blackened" cover.....
EDIT:
Too much screaming / deep throath singing for my like.. (I guess I just dont like their style)
Yeah, some of their covers on The Anatomy Of were pretty sub par in my opinion. I liked their blackened cover and their Pink Floyd/King Crimson/Queen/Sepultura covers were amazing. The most disappointing of them all was the "Cemetery Gates" cover.

PTH's vocalist is great. Fortress wasn't nearly as good as Kezia, I agree.
Colors is amazing, especially Sun Of Nothing
This is a truly epic band. yeah.
So I've been listening to Alaska a lot and Backwards Marathon has to be one of my favorite songs now.

Also, 8-bit version.

Fortress is so much better. It's like a more refined and mature version of Kezia.
Does anyone else think that their "Cemetery Gates" cover was a bit of a letdown?
Woah, thread back from the dead.
Their new album is coming out in a month, I can't be the only one here picking it up the day it comes out.
