So I was watching some extracts from the news on youtube and came across this 1 video which features a section following a group of "moderate" rebels. First part shows how they discriminate against none sunnis and see them as enemies (ie calling shiites or other minorities iranians and calling iranians enemies) Second part shows how they might kill kurds - "are you kurdish" "no" "then we have no problem" thats to civilians. Shit is so fucked up. Assad needs to go but those rebels are the bottom of the barrel scum of humanity. Nothing is explicitly graphic in this since it is British daytime tv news. Good channel is anybody is interested gives short clips from various news things in the UK.
those rascals are really going at it
Kurds seem like the only friendly folks in the region :/
not if you're assyrian http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/01/assyrians-kurds-qamishli-160112165041894.html or sunni http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05/18/syrian-kurds-accused-of-ethnic-cleansing-and-killing-opponents/
Both of these have refuted by various sources considering the YPG/J and SDF contain a lot of Sunni and Shia Arabs fighting along side each other. Nor have they ever been confirmed outside "moderate" rebel and Turkish twitter reports. Hell Assyrians form the Syriac Military Council who worked along side the SDF and YPG up in north eastern Syria.
You also have to remember you have the Iraqi Kurds, and the Syrian Kurds, both of whom are vastly different from the other.
To be completely fair, armed militias in any conflict tend to be pretty radical in their beliefs and in chaotic warzones you'll always get the odd dipshit officer causing war crimes no matter what country it's in. Look at the balkan conflict or the various militias in modern Colombia for example. Rebel groups have always been pretty shitty. These groups might not be as bad as Assad once they become a legit government and that's the important thing to remember.
It's just seeking for someone to blame, in WW1, it was Jews and Armenians. Now it's Kurds and other minorities. You put the blame for your own failure and the frustration on others, because you don't want to deal with it yourself.
It is nowhere this simple
They make it as simple as they want to. Want to blame Kurds, Jews, whatever. They are going to do so, if only to avoid having to blame themselves. There doesn't need to be logical reasons for doing this, people do and have always done it.
