no not that at all, its just a position that interests me, and see aerial gunners in the united states airforce either become helicopter door gunners or ac130 weapons loaders, personally id rather be on the ac130, there are other jobs to choose from and i may change my mind, but its just what im interested in at the moment
How old are you at the moment?
ROTC won't get you into the Air force..
AFROTC (college) > Air Force AFJROTC (high school) > Basics > Air Force I've been to afjrotc in HS, cool stuff.
If you really want to fly, you could also consider joining the Navy. They have more aircraft than the Air Force has, believe it or not.
But the jets on the carriers are piloted by Air force pilots. :downs:
im a junior in highschool , so i got one more year to make up my mind, my dad was also in the airforce, im not joining cus of cod lol
But the jets on the carriers are piloted by Air force pilots. :downs:
Here in the UK the Royal Navy trains helicopter pilots and jet pilots with the Naval branch, not the RAF.
Why would you want to fight in an Army, you are only preventing the planet from continuing in science.
Why would you want to fight in an Army, you are only preventing the planet from continuing in science.
Are you purposely trolling and shitting on every military thread? Or are there perhaps better things you can do?
fixd
Thankyou.
be gone radioactive [editline]10:27PM[/editline]
Thankyou.
yea mate
Here in the UK the Royal Navy trains helicopter pilots and jet pilots with the Naval branch, not the RAF.
Works the same way here.
forget the airforce be a seaman
I'm trying to join the army as a helicopter pilot right now. It's a long process and the flight aptitude test is a bitch, but hopefully I will get it. As of last year all the services have been meeting their quota so it is getting harder to join the military, especially for jobs such as pilots.
heres a better example than i can explain with text http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3n9W3NqC1o
Also I forget to mention: I have hardly any interest in being a jet or cargo pilot. I want to fly helis.
You're not going to be a pilot if you get into the airforce- I promise you. You have to be pretty much superhuman, in intellect and reaction time. (Even moreso if you want to fly a helicopter) Found it funny that you had a picture of your R/C heli on your avatar, your parents probably bought you one and that's why you want to be a pilot.

be a seaman, you can service the people in planes who are better than you

If you do go to collage, get a good paying job and use that to fund flight school, but not necessarily in that order. You aren't going to fly in the military. Right now I'm getting my PPL, and I plan to finish High School and that by the time I enter collage. Then I'll enter an aviation program and work on my Instrument/Multi-Engine/Commercial throughout collage and after that.

That means 4.0 GPA all through out high school though.
Me too, I'm a really good pilot. I can land a 747 on Microsoft Flight Simulator! In heavy cross winds!
Me too, I'm a really good pilot. I can land a 747 on Microsoft Flight Simulator! In heavy cross winds!
Simulator's are actually harder to land then real planes :P

I think there's a little bit of confusion on here. When people sign up to become a Tank Commander, or some kind of pilot, they become Warrant Officers. There's a slight difference a regular officer and a Warrant Officer, but the latter have less authority and are specialized in a specific field, such as flying a helicopter. At ROTC, you'll learn about how to become an officer in general. At airforce ROTC they'll probably teach you some basic skills. Oh, by the way, check out Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. If you really want to become a pilot, go to this college. They have all four ROTC programs, and they teach you how to fly. You can get your pilots liscence there. They'll teach you all about aeronautical science, as well. Look up Embry-Riddle on google.
I did 4 years of AFROTC, it really helps you with your leadership and management skills, good in the long term.

I think they do get you connections with some employers so a job is pretty much guaranteed, I guess if you got the money to burn then go for it.
How old are you at the moment?
Older than you i guess. However that sounded stupid.
I was planning to join the canadian aiforce so i can become a pilot for air canada, now i guess i'll go through flight school and pay all the money, since becoming an airforce pilot is so hard
1) You're not going to be a pilot through ROTC - They only accept the best of the best and that means you went to the Air Force Academy. You can theoretically do it through ROTC but it's insanely difficult 2) Even if you managed to retire by 42 or whatever you'd be incredibly bored the rest of your life. if you're flying airplanes why would you WANT to retire?
