I also like how in the ad, the torrent-guy was in a dark room in the lonesome while the people who paid were all wonderfully lit and having so much fun in their colorful world. Stereotypes, man.
One time I went to my parents' friends' house and we all watched a pirated movie just like the family in the video.
200+ hours? Is that guy downloading a car?
200+ hours? Is that guy downloading a car?
I don't think even a working car takes that long to download.
The slow download argument would only apply to obscure films that are not in demand (nobody would upload or seed) and movies that just came out (because there are a lot of people trying to pull data from one source and there is a high demand).
253 hours for a single movie? These advertisers have OBVIOUSLY never torrented
People react more to over exaggeration. It's true, your comment proves it. If it was 2 hours you wouldn't notice or mention it.
It's a great marketing scheme, it applies to everything even politics.
I don't think people are getting it correctly.
The download is almost half way and there's still 253 hours left in the download.

So they're implying it takes 400-500 hours to download a movie.
They're also implying that man has been sitting watching that download screen for the last 250 hours.
I'm not going to support either side on this, but you can always get up and do something while the unskippable stuff is playing. That's what I usually do, and muting it makes time fly a whole lot quicker. Buying DVDs is worth it if you want to see the special features, deleted scenes, listen to the commentary (Fight Club and Shaun of The Dead have the best I've heard so far.) or whatever good content is on it.
"He never gets it."
You can get EVERYTHING on the internet.
Also, the time he spent downloading could be speeded up by getting better internet and he could have started earlier.
Pay:
- Annoying ads and shit
- Sometimes the DVD is getting faster scratches then a bought empty DVD
- DVD lost? To bad, buy a new one
Pirate
- Ads/warning are removed
- DVD scratched to hell and no DVD's left? Stream the movie to your Xbox
- DVD lost? Burn a new one
I like how the pirates are getting all the benefits
Fuck DVD's. I'll pay for Laserdiscs.

Pirating a movie is like being a Dhampir, all of the best parts with none of the terrible parts.
Same with games and DRM.
Nothing like fucking over the users to cause a bump in the road for the pirates.
for me it's just run the 360 netflix, play movie, hope i don't accidentally hit the controller and kill the movie while it's streaming, if i do it goes back to the point i left off
Except you NEED Xbox Live Gold to play movies, with other consoles and instant streaming all you need is the monthly subscription to Netflix.
ITT: Warez much?

No idea how the people who invented that thought it would catch on. I mean come oh I need something portable let me grab my 1 foot wide disk so I can watch a movie.
I can download 5 movies in the time it takes to go buy one. Plus its free
I have a DVD with this advert/warning on and the first time I saw it I genuinely laughed out loud when they high-fived over the obviously indescribably intense action.
I feel like explaining the benefits of piracy, but they're too obvious that it's not necessary.
I prefer to actually have a physical copy of my DVD/Bluray, and that's why I buy them.Though, that video was rather silly.
Except you NEED Xbox Live Gold to play movies, with other consoles and instant streaming all you need is the monthly subscription to Netflix.
You can stream from your PC to your 360 with netflix :smug:
Most recent TV's has USB ports anyway. Not even any need to pay for discs anymore.
