I know a girl at my school that look like that orangutan in the first post.
I'll just prop this down here. :smugdog:
God hates Trolls
* The only mamals who have developed some sort of language are aquatic mamals (dolphins, whales). I lol'd.
hahahaha OP doesnt know what he is on about. He probly lie about taking A level biology.
Ok, I expected to come into this thread and find a lot of bullshit, but you kept it nice and tried to support "your" theory with facts. That's already rarity on such a topic. Nonetheless, I think this theory is false. For one, elephants may have originated from waterborn mammals, but if you look at the mammut, it developed a thick fur again. That means that the mammut adapted to it's situation. Humans had a similar way. We used to have fur (well, our ancestors, not homo sapiens sapiens) and it still shows sometimes today. Hypertrichosis is an illness where the person has hair growning at untypical places, sometimes even on the whole body This means that the genetical information to a full fur is still in our DNA and can be taken as an evidence that we once developed a fur. Today it's not needed anymore and, as life always seeks ways to minimize it's effort, we dropped it.
This is not why we dropped it. We dropped it because we can't have 100% thick fur. Why not? Our advanced brain develops such heat, that we would overheat and die. No intelligent creature can wear (Thick) fur. (Hopefully I bursted some furfags bubbles by this.)
what the hell is OP smoking
Hahaha what a cool Orangutan.
The orangutan's like, "bitch back da fuck off you ain't got nothin on me"

If we'd have a fur our body would need to have some sort of cooling mechanics (sweating for example). Instead of having such a power-consumpting mechanic, we just dropped the fur. Which you can describe as a way to minimize the effort the body needs to cool itself. Sorry bout that, I know that you are right :v:
My friend would be interested in this kind of thing but he would stop reading after the misspelling of words. That loses all your credibility with him.
That's a terrible reason. 1. I use IE 9 to browse FP. No spell check. 2. English is my second language. Generally my grammar is maintained but I let it slip this time.

Sorry bout that, I know that you are right :v:
Y'know, we did and still does sweat, it didn't work though, as it just got soaked up in the fur, and didn't cool off the body at all. Drooling would've been one alternative cooling mechanics, but that takes alot of water and energy, as we would need to drool extremely much. So yes, instead of all that bullshit, natural selection took it's time and we dropped most of the fur.
God hates Trolls
God doesn't exist. :smug:
God doesn't exist. :smug:
Yes he does. I am god :smug:
Humans have the same amount of hair follicles as primates, our hair is just thinner and lighter.
Now I'm not one to believe in Darwin's Theory, but I did find this hypothesis intrieging. To me, it makes more sense than Darwin's Theory. (I have taken college level biology and I intend to make it my major)
THAT...statement...if it can even be classed as such, defies words. Cmon everyone, get your stuff together, we're leaving.
Excuse me sooooo much for not having ENGLISH as my native language. If you don't have anything meaningfull to say then trying to mention typos in a taunting way, then stay out of the conversation because it might be over your head. Sorry man, I wasn't trying to be a dick, I thought that might actually be the right way to spell it. You know how Color is Colour to some people and favorite is favourite. I wasn't trying to be smart, I was being serious.
Such as?
Humans have body hair, aquatic mammals have body hair, elephants have body hair. How's that for starters?
Are you one to believe in this "gravity" theory?
Gravity isn't a theory its a law.
ITT: successful non-evolution troll. This is funny. Anyways it is sad that there are really some people like this out there.
ITT: successful non-evolution troll. This is funny. Anyways it is sad that there are really some people like this out there.
You're just as arrogant as Richard Dawkins :buddy:. It's just a hypothesis and a field of study, calm the fuck down.
You're just as arrogant as Richard Dawkins :buddy:. It's just a hypothesis and a field of study, calm the fuck down.
Please, explain to me how you can be planning to major in biology and not accept Darwin's theory? This should be good.
Isn't the theory is apes and man have a common ancestor, not that man came from apes?
Isn't the theory is apes and man have a common ancestor, not that man came from apes?
Well... we are still apes.
More like humans were evolving to water before they... well... took over the planet.
Isn't the theory is apes and man have a common ancestor, not that man came from apes?
Basically yes, the theory is that modern apes (us, orangutans, chimps, gorillas, etc) evolved from a common ape ancestor. The theory that our anti-evolution friend here is pushing is that somewhere along the line our particular ancestral branch became aquatic. I'm pretty sure there isn't any evidence at all that we ever became aquatic, however there is a plausible theory that we became semi-aquatic for a time which came from observing chimps in a flooded area of Africa who have begun walking upright in water and sometimes on land as well.

Also, I'm not anti-evolution. I just don't support "Origin Of Species" because of my religious background. I want to, atleast, minor in biology. I'm going into the medical field, but I'm eyeing virology, seems like a fun career choice.
You already don't believe that all animals were created by God as they are today, why would you not believe in evolution?
You already don't believe that all animals were created by God as they are today, why would you not believe in evolution?
I believe in the process of evolution. Evolution isn't just man's ancestry. That's Darwinism, which I classify as plausible.
I'm not sure I follow. If you believe in evolution, that's Darwin's theory.
I'm not sure I follow. If you believe in evolution, that's Darwin's theory.
I don't follow the Origin Of Species (because of my religious background), I don't deny it. I don't ridicule people who believe it. I simply leave it as plausible. I do believe in a creatures ability to adapt, mutate, etc. In other words, evolve.
So you believe life itself was created by God millions of years ago, but evolved through evolution to its current state? That's pretty much what Darwin thought but he didn't have any idea how life started.
