What you clearly aren't seeing is that the homeless guy didn't have a choice, he wasn't told it was going to happen. It wasn't like they went up to him and asked him if he wanted his cake smashed for $100.
This is where not being a dick comes into play. They could have given him both but instead they taunted him as they stomped his cake. Shit's fucked up.
They said on a daily basis people give this person quite a lot of money, and on that day alone he recieved well over 200 bucks.

Yes and i didn't have a choice in Geikkamir's situation, regardless you walk away with something significantly more valuable, usable, and practical.
What would you prefer? Money or stale food.
Something tells me you'd prefer money over, y'know, stale food.
Also that's still not even defending them.
holy shit, we get it, a hundred dollars is better than stale cake, but that's not the point
the point is that this asshole humiliated the guy and uploaded it to the internet
if they had said "hey we'll buy that cake for a couple hundred dollars", that'd be one thing
but they just stepped on it right in front of him, then just tossed money at him while laughing at his situation and making fun of him
And you guys seem to keep thinking that by this happening this homeless man has lost all his dignity and will forever be humiliated because someone smashed a cake he found, which is not the case.
They said on a daily basis people give this person quite a lot of money, and on that day alone he recieved well over 200 bucks.
Alright I see you don't understand the situation. He didn't have a choice in the matter, the poor man even offered them some cake. I could walk up to you and smash your lunch then laugh at you and get up in your face with a video camera and post it on the internet. Oh sure it'd be humiliating but whatever I gave you $200.
I'm pretty sure it'd make you upset or at the slightest pissed off.

Okay yes sure in terms of material gain 100 dollars is worth more than stale cake so if you view it entirely in terms of what he physically gained and lost he came out on top, but that's not the point. Human beings are not completely emotionless detached creatures that are only capable of viewing things in terms of net loss/gain, people don't exactly like it when you treat them like shit.

Which is why i say he got the better end of the deal. He received something actually usable and the trade off was a moment of sadness in an other wise long series of insignificant occurrence.

We are, you just don't understand the point. I imagine you were bullied in school a lot if you're okay with taking people's shit. Yeah they gave him money but they humiliated him.
Which is why i say he got the better end of the deal. He received something actually usable and the trade off was a moment of sadness in an other wise long series of insignificant occurrence.
Maybe you're okay with being humiliated in public for money, but some people have this thing called "pride".
Confused. Nothing more nothing less.
Then i'd walk away richer and not even care because i'd still be wondering why some idiot threw food on the ground and paid me for it. This isn't a really good counter argument or example.
Have you ever actually been in a social situation? With real people?
Not one of your weaboo rrerr games, real humans.

Do you know how valuable the basic things are to homeless people? For a homeless person to offer you a slice of cake is so unbelievably kind, the guy who betrayed that offer by stomping on the whole cake is a disgrace.

You're a terrible person and you should pray that you don't get put in this guy's position.

He could have had both. They clearly have that money to toss away, and he clearly wanted that cake. He's probably lucky to gain a few scraps from a dumpster, now he actually found a cake and was happy with it.
Not only that, but they smashed something that was his property, not theirs. You aren't allowed to do that, him being a homeless man does not warrant such disgrace.
And you guys seem to keep thinking that by this happening this homeless man has lost all his dignity and will forever be humiliated because someone smashed a cake he found, which is not the case.
Honestly, anyone in this thread who happens to wander by this man is going to be thinking, "Hey that's the man who got bullied by those radio hosts", do you think that's different for anyone else who has seen this video? The point is that there was no reason to do it.
Do you think it's fair game to record you ripping and tearing someone's pants off of them, as you laugh, and then giving them the money for the pants?
Being a dick to people and laugh at them isn't ok just because you gave them 100$ afterwards.
Also wasting food right in front of someone who often suffers from hunger is a horrible thing to do.
And you guys seem to keep thinking that by this happening this homeless man has lost all his dignity and will forever be humiliated because someone smashed a cake he found, which is not the case.
How do you know he still doesn't think back to that moment and feel humiliated? Anyway, there's no justifying what the idiot did.
How happy was that man when he saw the cake? He even wanted to share.
Now I Realy want to punch that guy is his worthless face.
getting your food stolen and being laughed at in public for a hundred dollars certainly wouldn't make you feel any BETTER about being homeless like god damn this is freaking comically evil except it isn't comical at all so it's just really really really evil to compensate for it
i just
aaaaaa
What would you prefer? Money or stale food.

The point is that they took advantage of his situation to "get some laughs", and ultimately make money themselves. The other thing is that it's cruel whether they gave him money for it or not. They could have just given him the money and not smashed his cake while laughing at him. That way he didn't have to spend that money right away and could have saved it for when he really needed food, or clothing, or shelter, or a bus ticket. "Stale food", who cares. If he wants to eat it then he should be able to. People dumpster dive who aren't homeless because people throw out food that hasn't even been touched, simply because they don't have room to hold onto it.
This shit is wrong and I will never understand why people think it's funny. I wish I could find this guy today and take him out to lunch or something. To us it was just a stale cake, but for him I imagine he will never forget that day.
Why this dude's still alive is beyond me.

You'd think with that behavior he'd have pissed off the wrong person by now.
Amy's Baking Co.
Someone got most of her information and leaked it online, she became really popular via reddit and ruined her restaurant by opening the floodgates with Gordon Ramsay's TV show.

since you don't understand the concept of dignity and respect i am gonna hop on the wagon and guesstimate that you're used to this kind of behavior and possess neither
There are some things you just can't fix by giving money. :c
If anyone's interested, Jim Norton discussing the incident with Joe Rogan on his podcast:

see, you watch a minute long video and you instantly make up the whole story in your head.

Would you be saying all this if the homeless man killed himself from getting made a fool of in front of a crowd of people?
It isnt about the cake or the money, it's the fact that this guy fucking smashed his cake to make a laugh at the homeless mans expense. Money cant fix that.
fuck people who fuck with the homeless piss me off. i hope someone stomps on this guys face like that cake. or at least just on something he owns/values

I know what these people do is fucked up, and it makes my blood boil too, but what you said sounds a little immature.
