The new Yu-gi-oh is terrible, old was best.
Literally the first card I ever got was the Millennium Shield, which is supposedly one of the rarest cards in the game.

The only thing I don't like about all the ones I've seen is you can just pick the best cards in the game and make a super deck, and as far as I know there is no trading.
That is something I prefer in the video games, though I never did get into them - I like the concept of starting with a starter deck, and then dueling other players within your rank (so you don't get guys with great stuff obviously) to earn in-game cash you can use to purchase packs of cards. Like the actual game.
Then of course you can either trade or purchase (again, in-game; I hate paying real money for things like this) specific cards for a large price.
I think half the fun is actually getting the cards and then building a deck out of them. I think it takes a lot of the fun out when you can just get all the cards in the game with no effort whatsoever and make the most beast deck ever.
But that's just me. I don't think anyone else agrees with me. :v:

Fine, super-deck compared to mine. The majority of my monsters are all normal monsters with shit attack, because they're so damn old. Like seriously, one of my best monsters that isn't in my deck is a five-star monster with 1800 attack and about the same defense. Whereas one of the newer cards I have is a four-star with 1900 attack. :colbert:
There are cards that destroy monsters over a certain attack, or cannot be attacked by those pumped 1900 attackers.

I didn't say that. They just have limited usefulness compared to others.
Besides, I'm sure you can agree that Normal monsters are rarely superior to comparable (same attack, defense, and stars) Effect monsters. I'd be okay with an 1800-attack five-star if it had an effect, but a Normal monster?
It's situational. Those 5 stars can prevent it from being targeted by some effects designed for four stars, or it can be used more efficiently in a ritual.

Also, many cards specifically target effect monsters.

Not when your deck has a lot of them. I had a deck with Slifer, Ra, Exodia, Blue-eyes ultimate Dragon, and pretty much any other power card you can think of to the point where trying to kill the monsters I had on the field was pretty ridiculous.

You would get obliterated against any opponent with half a brain. If you allow them to set up enough monsters on the field to the point where they have enough to summon, you deserve to lose.
I used to roll on a magic card damage deck when I was younger. No person (at least locally) could counter me. As a backup I would have Maha Vailo with a Mage ring (or maybe mage power?) next to two Magical/mystical thorns.
I loved Yu-Gi-Oh, made me feel like a goddamn tactician, though I always had problems with getting the cards I wanted.

believe it or not setting up enough monsters to summon a God card and then trying to draw the fucking God card can be quite frustrating at times.
