Different adaptations than here on the surface. Big eyes to gather what light penetrates that deep. Biolumencents to attract prey or a mate. Transparent or red color, to not be seen. Long frilly sensory organ thingies to sense things swimming by you. Hatchet fish have biolumencent cells under their body that can mimic the exact color of the light above them, making them invisible from underneith.

Those videos on deep ocean creatures were neat.
Especially that shrimp-like-thing that fires little glowing depth charges.
The fish with the red "headlights" would be terrifying to see. Giant glowing red eyes in complete blackness, oh fuck.
