The revolver and the AWP can both kill with a bodyshot at medium to far ranges with only one shot. Adjusting the barrier to entry won't change the fact that they are both easily abused. And finally, grenades can be used as a counter against literally every other weapon, so it doesn't really excuse the AWP's existence.
How is the AWP in any way overpowered? Did you watch any pro matches at all? (To be honest, I thought the same when I was pretty new to CS)
the AWP is balanced by making it an extremely cumbersome weapon in a game where every little bit of mobility you have matters this thing has the raw damage output of the AWP with none of its downsides
I could never get into CS from back in the Hl1 just because of the recoil system. I liked Day of Defeat (the original) because the first bullet you fired was usually somewhat accurate. shots after that would become more inaccurate as you held full auto.
I hate the AWP "op" argument. It is simple to counter, mind you it is powerful and expensive. If you lose an AWP it is a big defecit to your teams economy. The time between shots can be extremely punishing. And overall movement is power, and you lose the peekers advantage and a lot of mobility picking up an AWP. That bit of mobilty drastically changes firefights. It's not just this godly gun, it has measurable drawbacks

The AWP is the king of hallways and narrow paths they can snipe you down. If you can flank an AWP and not give them the opportunity to see it coming, they're toast unless they hear your footsteps with a headset or you fuck up. And once a match is enough rounds in that people can buy AWPs, it was standard that you start avoiding or smoking the sniping killzones like the double doors on Dust 2 The R8 gives the middle finger to that and lets you 100% accurately shoot anyone even while running or jumping, despite Valve having fixed the right click exploits, to the point that the only disadvantage they have is if a player isn't exactly a whiz at accuracy, they can waste a lot of shots. But when all it takes is one, in the right hands an R8 will beat an AWP every single time. When a fucking revolver added in without warning on short-sighted changes dethrones the most infamous and complaint-garnering weapon of the game in less than a day, it's no wonder every single person is up in arms.
I've been playing CS for like 13 years now and I still hate the AWP. It's not unbalanced but I still hate it and think the game would be better without it. This revolver doesn't seem to follow any logic when it comes to balancing. The AWP is balanced because it takes you like 3 rounds to save up for it. What's the point of a OHK hand cannon that you could afford literally every round?

I think the R8 would be fine if it was restricted to casual play only, otherwise it needs to be reworked. Edit: This sounds reasonable; https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/3w9y2u/balancing_the_r8_revolver_mod_download_inside/
Happy holidays everyone. This is Valve's gift to us. Enjoy it while it lasts. It'll be nerfed by the end of the month.
I feel like most people that say the AWP is overpowered don't have a lot of experience with the game
Either that or they're mostly casual players. The AWP is perfectly balanced and fits a very specific high risk/high reward niche in competitive, but in casual it's fucking ridiculous. Anyone can afford one so you end up with 3-5 AWPers just sitting at chokepoints waiting for you to come through, and even if you use grenades to try and get past them the sheer volume of fire will more than likely fuck you up anyway.
They also made rifle spray inconsistent. CS spray memorization is a hallmark, and they just killed it but also added a pistol thats accurate while moving and one shots everyone. What are they doing.
Its been awhile since i've played CS seriously, But why are they changing rifle spray. It was fine the way it was?
Yeah just like the earlier guy I've been playing csgo for about 10ish years. I hopped on GO for the first time in a while and this revolver is fucking stupid. I got my rank back and won my first comp game, top fragged with this stupid thing What the fuck is valve thinking? [editline]11th December 2015[/editline] Also these spray changes are very upsetting to me
Its been awhile since i've played CS seriously, But why are they changing rifle spray.
I think they were trying to make tapping/bursting preferable to spraying at range. God, someone in my city did a parody of this about our transit system, I die laughing everytime.
