Finished the new redesign of Selene. For the first time, I decided to cover up her midriff. Also made her design symmetrical by giving her braces on both arms, it just made more sense. I'd like to get started on a new 3D model of this outfit soon.

It's the harness for her weapons that she keeps on her back. The design is sound, and based off existing harnesses used for carrying heavy backpacks.

Yeah, I talked it over with my friend, he says the character is supposed to be flatter. I adjusted the drawing since I posted that WIP shot so she's got a smaller bust.

And she's still got great big man shoulders. Shrink them a bit and give them a bit more of a slope down from the neck. You've also got her collarbones placed way too high, and her cleavage doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The way you've drawn it makes it look like her tits are poking straight out of her chest.

Your lack of progress on character design really frustrates me.
A while ago I said it was nice to see you making her more than a 13 year old's fantasy and the re-design fails at that in my honest opinion.
After talking with Kura about the design, I decided to make a few changes to her color scheme. The bright reds with the blacks made her look too much like a villain, so I decided to mute the colors. Also, the blue on her armor didn't mesh with the rest of her outfit as well as I'd hoped, so they've been switched to black.

Also yes, the lines for this picture are still skritchy, that's because I was drawing this in Photoshop instead of SAI. My next picture will be done in SAI.

Put some shorts or pants on. And maybe give her some proper upper body clothing as well that doesn't press her boobs up.

TERA's character design made my eyes and brain bleed because of how retarded the females looked, and her outfit looks like something right out of it.
If she's supposed to be an adventurer and not a "working girl" then actually make her look the part.
You can beef her up to be an independent adventurer and all that business but do it proportionally, right now its focused at the shoulders and it looks weird.
The top can work but the bottom has to change/vise versa.
On your lines problem: Zoom the fuck out, quick strokes, fix dodgy lines later (you have an eraser).
Also do what dgg says.

Yeah, this.
It feels like every female character you've drawn so far, like, ever, you've been drawing with your dick. Try to look at them as regular people and think about what might be practical for someone with their lifestyle, and what clothes and accessories can serve as symbols of their personality.
It was more excusable when you were a teenager/just starting art school but you've been at this for a few years now and if you really want to tell compelling stories or design compelling characters it's gonna be important to be able to portray women as more than fetish dolls.
Unless you're bleedman.

A Character I created for VOID.
I wanted to try making a character that's very different from anything I've done before. The original idea was to have one of those "tough old man" characters that fights off young hoodlums. I took that concept and went from there.
I like characters with tragic pasts and stories about redemption, so the character's story is written to match those tastes. Plus I think it's a good way to vent about problems I personally had in school.

-Brad Lesterson was a jock and a bully in High School. One day one of his victims grew sick and tired of his bullying and shot him in the leg, ending his future in football. He's now 40, unemployed, and an alcoholic. He now sees the error of his ways and wants to redeem himself. He does so by doing good deeds for other people when he's able to. He's currently trying to apply for a job as a coach at his old high school.
-Brad is stubbornly independent, and refuses to let other people help him. He sees his financial situation as penance for his past.

I tried to mimic her arm's pose and it was quite painful.
My friend Chris challenged me to come up with 5 new designs for Selene by the end of the week. I've tried to take all the stuff they've been teaching me into consideration while drawing up the new looks.
Here's the first design.
One of the big problems I've been having is that her silhouette has not been that unique. This design challenges that by adding more shapes that break the form of the body. Plus, I stepped away from the usual sort of black leather dominatrix look that I've become a bit too attached to. I also wanted to make the outfit actually look like something out of a medieval style fantasy setting. The new look also has repeating themes within the clothing that unifies the various elements that comprise it.
