Most music shops have them :s
They sound terrible.
Thinking about buying a Rocktron Gainiac 2 preamp, i'm playing through an orange tiny terror.
anybody got experience with this preamp?
Luv my all-tube Vox AC-15. Here she is. <3

I really want a Ac-15, or Ac-30, or well Ac-50 or Ac-100
It's funny how here in sweden, there are used Ac-50 heads from the 60's that are cheaper than new Ac-15 combos.
I want to get one now.
They are dreadful though or so I've been reported to.
I want to get one now.
worst amp ever made.
it can hardly be heard and has some of the worst distortion too.

However, set it in front of a mic, hooked into a bigger, better amp... throw in some other guitars hooked up regularly, and play yourself some noise rock, it might have a really unique sound.

or it could just sound even worse.
or it could just sound even worse.
It probably will.
That's why you use it in noise rock where people don't know if your amp sounds like shit. :ninja:
Used to have a Fender Champion 300, Lovely amp, double input very useful, however ended up being a 3 month interim amp until I got my Marshall AVT 50, had it for nigh on five years now, solid amp with great tone and can really pump it up to neighbourhood annoying levels. I don't see why I'd need to get any bigger an amp, ever
Bass wise I've had the very respectable Marshall MB-30 for the three years or so I've been playing, don't see any need to switch in the near future

If you're wondering what the hell the red box is, it's a Weber MASS attenuator. Nothing's better than the sound of a cranked tube amp and not having angry neighbors knocking at my door. And no, despite all the crazy rumors, attenuators are not crazy amp killing machines.
Also, ignore the little amp on the left.
i heard of some guy buying a JCM 800 and running it through a new attenuator. he decided to go for broke and dial up the volume and gain to max. unfortunately, the attenuator couldn't handle it and the thing suffered a catastrophic failure. Now, because the attenuator was fucked, there wasn't any speaker load on the tube amp, and he completely fried his output transformer and put him out a couple hundred dollars.
not that this story should put anyone off of using an attenuator, i just thought it was a cool story to share.
My friend has one of those tiny marshalls, the amp sucks, but its fun to carry around and play :v:

I think an acoustic is a better solution
I have a Spider III, my uncle bought it for me. After a while I noticed why people hate it. I tried to sell it, but he went back to Ecuador, so I'm learning to like it.
I could still use a Valveking.

Or a Vox DA5/Roland Microcube.

I'm quite pleased with this amp. Has got several good built in effects and a decent distortion. All my home rocking needs.
I have a Peavey Vypyr 15, it's great for practicing and such.
Love the effects.
my amp 30 watt. doing pretty good nice distortion effect and a bunch of others, can defintely recommend VOX.

I have a roland cube 30-X. I like the effects built in it. I only use my boss ds-1 to switch quickly from clean to distorsion but if I dont need to I'm using metal stetting or rfier stetting (punk-ish sound IMO)

I was always curious, that thing uses tubes, or it's just a simple solid state
EDIT: Hey, not my fault they try to cover up using "tube sound" in the descriptions, ok? Marshall MG also has "zomg tube sound lol"
That dumb rating doesn't mean anything, every post gets one.
Also, I think there's one small tube in it but not where the sound is made. It was some sort of equalizing tube or something, can't remember.

Really?
Not even a tube in the preamp?
Ouch...

I'm thinking of picking up an Orange Crush 30R to replace my pretty old and not-that-great Marshall 15 DFX. what do you think?
Can somebody recommend me a good starter amp?
Preferably under $200 Australian
Roland Cube
