Mostly rock, some Metallica and some other metal as well.
An Ibanez SA260 would be a great choice, it's really versatile with the HSS setup, and you can even coil split the humbucker, so you can use it for almost every type of music.
Or if you don't want a tremolo bridge, you could look into the Ibanez RGA32, though this is more oriented towards playing with distortion, as it has active pickups.
Basically you want a humbucker to be at the bridge, if you like metal.
Well, these are just my recommendations, ask around more if you're not sure.
(I used the site you linked the orange amp from as a source)
No
Infact some jazz guitar players do this.
The only reason you can't *really* use a bass through a guitar amp at any real volume is because the speakers don't have the excursion (Xmax, Xmech) to handle the bass. The other way round is fine.
Really? Weird, when I first got my bass, I used my guitar amp, and it didn't do any damage to it.
Really? Weird, when I first got my bass, I used my guitar amp, and it didn't do any damage to it.
Because you wern't playing at any real volume - Try do a gig or play with a drummer at any reasonable volume with it and you will fry the drivers in no time.
It's fact :)
(I Have a spare 12" guitar speaker and an amp I am willing to sacrifice for proof, but I'd rather not - It's nice)
If you hear the speaker "farting" out then you are on your way to damaging it.

Wow, that red sunburst version looks awesome. Thanks for the help, I might look into that and read some reviews.
Can anyone tell me if this amp is any good for beginners? I just got an electric guitar, (was playing acoustic before) and I don't know much about amps.

I'm not going to play loud and my guitar is Fender Squier.

Save up some cash an get a roland/used line6*
*If you are just starting, They make great amps because the varying tones you can achieve, fuck your bandwagon.

Just play without an amp, like I did

Glad I could help:smile:
Also I lurked on that site a little more, and I saw that it stocks Blackstar amps.
You might want to check out the HT-5, it's the best low-wattage tube amp for the price that could handle thrash metal on its own.
If I had the money I'd be sure to buy it, but for now I'll settle on buying a Roland Cube 30X.
Well, try to get a MicroCube instead of a Cube15W
It has more stuff, but its only 2W, and has no independent EQ, but still, it is pretty loud.
Best thing about it:
Place a strap on it and you can go to the street and play like a mad man :v:

That thing sounds pretty awesome, compared to those tiny marshall or orange constructions.
I've got a Roland microcube bass RX - 5w BASS amp - Busked with it on plenty of occasions :D

You also have to keep in mind youtube's compression is also ruining the sound quality, so it sounds even better than what you hear.

Having a Microcube I can say that if you got the extra money, spend it on the 15W one. Not because of the wattage but because it has a larger speaker which is sounds a bit "fuller" and the EQ. Unless you just want to play at home and need the sound spectrum the MC has, then go for it.
I've tried out all of the Cubes, well except for the 60 and 80X, and I can't recommend either the 15X or 20X
They only have pedal models built in, not the COSM amp modelling feature, which sounds a lot better.
So if you can't go for the 30X you're better off with a microcube even though it has a smaller speaker.
Unless you only plan to play low-gain stuff.
My first amp was a Cube30X
I still have it.
I really like it, but I ended up buying a Pod 2.0 later.
The Pod rocks to record stuff on the Computer, practice, and you can use it on an Amp.
The cube has a really good clean channel, so the sound that you get using the Pod2.0+Cube is really decent.
I wanted to buy the MicroCube on my birth day just to be able to go outside and Shred like a mad man :v:
OH this is gonna be so much FUN!
Ok Well to list my amps, I own:
-Crate GTD120/212 (Primary amp)(Very great sound for solid state, very tube like response)
-1991 Tubeworks MosValve RT-2100 (Tube preamp, 100 watts, and the sound is orgasmic. The distortion has a really fuzzy sound)
-Line 6 Spider 2 210 (Starting amp, very good sound as a beginner, and alot of fun to tweak with)
I plan to turn the MosValve into a stack in the future. And of course PICTURES!

I have a GTD 120 too
I love it, in fact I like it more than my V18 2x12 to be honest...
God I feel stupid, I didn't know that you couldn't just buy a head, without buying a cabinet. :eng99:
God I feel stupid, I didn't know that you couldn't just buy a head, without buying a cabinet. :eng99:
Lol wow
Yeah, you can...
Some stores pack the amp with a matching cabinet and sell it as a functional half stack, but only with certain (more popular) brands and models.
If the head has a FX Send and return you can plug a powered speaker system (Such computer speakers) into the Send and use the head as a preamp.
I do this alot, Using my bass amp as a DI box.
here is my amp
and also
I found a Roland Cube Micro on craigslist for $85. They retail for $125. I was saving up to get the Cube 20 to replace my Kustom Dart 10. Is there any real difference between the 20 and the Micro? I saw the 20 had a few more knobs but thats it..
This is my only working amp
It's horrible...
Because this thing is broken.
