The clapper in the beginning said take 127
holy shit
If it was anyone other than OK Go I would have just said its 100% fake, but the fact that its them makes me want to believe.
A short Google search shows that apparently it really was one take. The drones used GPS and altitudes, the last shot was real, and it took 50 - 60 takes. Didn't check the source thoroughly though.
Regardless if it was done in one shot or not, it's still incredible impressive. I mean, trying to choreograph 100+ people with more stunts and movements pulled off than your average high-school football game is fucking godlike in itself. Plus those drone shots in the clouds looked friggen beautiful.

It was all one shot, the last part with all the umbrellas was animated from about the 3:48 mark. The picture is what they filmed with, a multi-copter drone that Honda designed specifically for this project.
Called it like a goddamn telephone.
Wow I wonder if all of it was actually real
Take a closer look at how the scooter flows near the door at 0:48.
And as for the scooters moving strangely, they're capable of lateral movement.
Called it like a goddamn telephone.
actually I posted that it was a dolly with a drone attached. I was sort of taking a wild guess because it seems like sort of a weird solution but I was exactly right haha
That was pretty fantastic.
Just looks pretty obvious to me, the way they transition from open/closed just looks incredibly smooth past that 3:48. Sorry, I should of stated that it was my opinion and not actual fact.
I believe that's because the footage is sped up, which tends to make things look bizarrely smooth.
It's all real.

What are those suits they wear called?
Imagine being the person who trips 3 minutes in and makes everyone start all over.
So who's going to photoshop Loss into one of the ending frames?

someone with some time to kill
is this true? It's still pretty simple choreography to open and close the umbrellas, don't see why they needed CG
Because if one of those people fucked up one little umbrella opening it would be a bitch to have to redo the entire thing when you could just fix it with CG.

i'd believe it if they only used CG for the fuck-ups.
What the fuck, in the ending they are all on those mobile mutated segway things, that must have cost a fortune. However that does explain how they did it with gps.
Incredible
hey wait that is perfume

that umbrella art is the best!
Yeah the end isn't 1 take they said in an interview. The lead singer said there wasn't enough of those Hyundai motor things in existence for the video, so the last sequence was done in multiple takes with people to do it. Apparently took 2000ish people to make the video.
Still incredibly impressive

I figured that had to be done, still amazing the rest was done in one shot
Ok Go has the best damn music videos. Regardless of them having to edit some things together or not. You can't deny that they are really creative.
Definitely. Sad because so many people dismiss their music because their videos are great but I think they make some really nice catchy music.
holy balls the end
Holy hell, that was some impressive coordination/synchronization.
Who fucking cares if its fake or not, its a goddam good music video and great song at that.
I love how all their music videos are so creative.
