Try Hellsing Ultimate instead, it's a ton better than the TV series.
Sorry, dialogue still sounds like it was written and delivered by a 13 year old :\
I don't know if anime fans can't tell the difference between good voiceovers and bad ones, or if they just learn to ignore it, any thoughts?

They watch it in subtitles
then they slowly wish they knew Japanese so they can understand it and be cool like naruto
then you know how it goes from there
But that only solves half the problem, the dialogue is still terrible.
ashfgasjdas who cares
brb gotta take a pissssssss

back
I used to be an anime hater like many in this thread back in 2004, but after watching Elfen Lied out of pure curiosity, I changed my mind. Slowly started watching more series and suddenly it was awesome.
There's an anime club at my school but fuck no I'm not joining it, it's full of weeaboos and fat guys who play that Yu Gi Oh card game extremely seriously (THEY'RE LIKE 18-19 YEARS OLD why are they playing that thing in the middle of school). I'm more of a casual watcher myself, an episode here and there if I don't have anything else to do.
I might be tempted to post some decent shows for you all to try as just like any other form of media, there are the good shows and the bad shows but the problem is I don't give enough of a shit to do so and I'm certain Facepunch in general will just flame me for liking anime even if I'm nothing like the stereotypical fan.
I'm just not going to waste any effort really because it would be pointless and lead to nothing.

Also this, while I like anime I hate the type of fans which you lot all hate just as much as you do and have no desire to join a club where these fans congregate but unlike a lot Facepunch I have the common sense to realise that not everyone who watches anime is automatically an idiot just because they like it. I much prefer to simply watch an episode of a show here and there and enjoy it in solitude.

But the show you said was good turned out to be bad. You betrayed our trust.

If you didn't like it then hey you didn't like it, personal opinions and all.
Somedays I feel shitty about my life and feel like a loser, then I come across people like this. Instant self esteem boost.
Joining a club or congregating with others is what turns your personal interest into a douchey obsession.
If you didn't like it then hey you didn't like it, personal opinions and all.
Personal preference is one thing, but quality of dialogue and voice acting is a pretty objective criticism. You can't honestly tell me you think this is good dialogue, can you?

"Your beauty lights..up...the night!"
And that's not even going into the tasteless, childish gun-worship. My impression is that that and the dialogue stuff are products of the Japanese culture putting zero emphasis on social intelligence. If you just like it for the artwork (which is good) and the gunplay, then fine. But some people's tastes have an emphasis on other aspects of the entertainment, and anime just doesn't reach the level of social intelligence that I like to see in my entertainment.
Most people who hate on anime only do it because it's the cool thing to do, but that doesn't mean there aren't very legitimate criticisms of the genre, one of which being that it is incredibly juvenile almost across the board.
P.S. Miyazaki is awesome

Like your personal opinion:
"ANIME IS GOOD, AND EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T LIKE THE SHOWS I DO ARE CLOSE MINDED."
Somedays I feel shitty about my life and feel like a loser, then I come across people like this. Instant self esteem boost.
I don't know about you, but I tend to look at people that are above me then I push my self up towards them.
Not look at people below me then just sit there laughing and glad I'm not like them.
But whatever floats your boat.
I don't mind Anime, some if it really good, but what pisses me the fuck off is the cosplayers who fucking obsess over japan like it's more important than oxygen.

Oh sorry I wasn't saying that the dialogue in Hellsing was pretty good in fact I can't even remember any of it as I did indeed just watch that series for the art and action.
I thought you were talking about anime in general and saying that all of the dialogue was shit and wasn't particularly thinking about Hellsing. My bad.

I don't remember calling anyone close minded and I'm sorry if I gave off that impression.

Haha well, I don't know about that. I do know I've never seen an anime with good dialogue, though :(

I will agree that the majority of it is full to the brim with a ton of shit dialogue just put in there in order to advance the plot to the next action scene. :v:
Some of the lines they come out with make me cringe.
I'm not exactly obsessed with Anime, but I do have an avid appreciation for the style and for Japanese stuff, just enough that I could be considered a "part-time" Otaku.

No, anime and the people who like it, truly, suck.
I remember never watching an episode of Yu-Gi-Oh to the end or even past the first five minutes because the dialog that connected the action scenes was way too long and the actual action was *throws card on [cool shiny thing]*

Yeah, I believe you. :downs:

King of page 6, ahoy.
You should join and smash up all their anime dvds.
What country are you in OP?
Do it, you'll fit right in.
I came in here thinking you were gonna join a cult.
I am disappointed.
Depends on if the members are airheaded and annoying. If they want to impersonate squeak toys all day, then stay away. If they want to watch and enjoy anime on their own merits and do a little cosplay, that's cool. Just make sure that they don't take this too seriously. Anything deemed cute and marketable, that's gonna get old fast.

Never watch the mainstream stuff that gets marketed towards kids. Those shows are always ruined during the translations becuase they're always dumbed down because they assume the kids are stupid. 4Kids is notorious for their kiddied-up versions.
Example of 4Kids stupidity: the anime "One piece" had a particularly violent and dramatic scene altered into a comedy sequence. Soldiers shown carrying guns were replaced with water guns. Cigarrettes were replaced with lolipops that for some reason still had smoke coming from them. Also, the infamous Pokemon Popcorn balls incident where Brock presented the other characters with an Onigiri, which was presented in the translation as a popcorn ball. Later on they started replacing Onigiri with burgers and submarine sandwiches the same way they did One Piece with the guns and the cigarettes.
This is the only time I don't believe in watching the English dub, when they end up altering stuff for kids.
Look for the stuff that the average person hasn't heard about and you'll find much better stuff.
Death Note, for example. After you get past the first few episodes it becomes a rather intense intellectual thriller. (At least until the halfway point in the series, then it starts to actually starts to go flat, but the entire overall story arc is still pretty interesting.)

Goddamnit ads stop doing things like that. And no, don't do it.
No.
