Bad music, perhaps not. But talentless "artists", oh yes there is. In terms of hip-hop, many consider the 2000's the END of mainstream hiphop (with very few still active). The few exceptions being people like Eminem, Ludacris, and maybe a few others.

When the West Vs. East Coast thing cooled down, pretty much everyone either went back underground or died. The only ones who are still mainstream that i can think of off the top of my head is Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z.

Notorious BIG, 2Pac, and NWA all had death going on. Dr. Dre, Lil'Kim, Junior Mafia, Lady of Rage, Puff Daddy, NAS, and Queen Latifah are either doing other shit or are totally underground now.
