the problem with stuff like the wheelchair is that it seems less likely that people who do actually use a wheelchair will be like "wow i sure love being confined to a wheelchair in real life, so much so that i'm going to put my virtual avatar in one too!" and more likely that other people are going to be like "haha dude look at my gimp avatar lmao!!"
i don't really see why people are complaining about the style tho, they just look like some generic 3d animated movie type shit and i think they look much better than the old avatars, which also had very limited customization

some of the characters in the video had weirdly fucked up proportions, like that muscly VR guy, but aside from that they look to me like modern Pixar/Dreamworks characters. Making your character pregnant is a little weird, but w/e, overall I think I still like these better than the discount miis.

I don't mind the change/upgrade to the character stuff though, besides adding a billion store items they've remained pretty unchanged since the 360. Granted, that's working pretty well for miis, but yeah
This reminded me how much I liked the avatar version of the 360 dashboard. The Xbox One's dashboard is so sterile and confusing in comparison.

Those pictures are also a year old, you can see the wheelchair dude in the trailer (although he's not in a wheelchair this time) and he looks significantly better. Personally I like the new avatars although I don't even own an Xbox anymore so it doesn't matter to me.
They look, acceptable I guess.
I think the biggest adjective I'd use to describe the new avatars is 'focus-tested'? It looks as specifically designed to appeal to what some executive thinks millenials are like.

Jokes aside - I might be in the minority but I actually like the new style. My only concern is how the old Avatar clothes would carry over. This feels more distinct and original, whereas the OG Xbox Avatars felt like an imitation of Mii.

Some of these look okay, honestly - the side-cut blonde robot sundress chick just looks like a cyberpunk Disney/Pixar knockoff. But the body proportions look fucked on the majority of the other ones. The only other one that looks semi-normal is the bearded beanie guy near the end.
Should just let people choose between the old avatar (to keep old cosmetics) and the new one (for greater customization in the future).

Oh man, I have that too. It's been so long since I used my 360 that I forgot all about all my avatar stuff.
I used to hate the Xbox avatars and much preferred Miis but both are much better than these. Pretty poor design imo, more simplistic avatars work best
