I never liked OOT, it always felt pretty poorly done in comparison to later zeldas (specifically Wind Waker). I only went back to play OOT on the original N64 and not the 3DS remake about a year ago, and simply couldn't do it. The controls and how it plays, I think, is terrible and the z-targeting/camera does have a multitude of problems but then I can't really think of a better way of doing it. Plus the controls are a little more tuned in the 3DS version. I understand when people say "But it's one of the first games to do it", but I don't feel like that should give it a free pass. It does a lot of things badly with the controls. Then the game is incredibly boring, with as Arin says long waits all over the place. In battles, in padding between stuff. I never actually played any of the 3D Zelda's until Twilight Princess, and went back to play Wind Waker after and holy shit, wind waker is almost perfect. Link has actual character, the stories interesting if a little rip-offy of OOT and it's not overly long (especially in the HD release). It does what it does in a more concise amount of time and way better than any other zelda. Combat was improved but again, the camera can be pretty terrible in places, specifically with locking onto particular enemies when surrounded (Wind temple boss comes to mind). 3D Zelda's without a doubt have a lot of problems, ones which I hope Nintendo improve with the one next year (considering it has an actual controller again and not a wii mote)
That's when i unsubscribed to them. So apparently, they ragequit a classic plateformer like Donkey Kong Country 2, but a really shitty game like Sonic 06 deserves over 100 episodes ?
They vowed to finish the game but Arin is so fucking bad at it that Jon actually left Game Grumps before they could finish it. They were really close to the end too.
They vowed to finish the game but Arin is so fucking bad at it that Jon actually left Game Grumps before they could finish it. They were really close to the end too.
Did we ever figure out why Jon left GG in the first place?

Each one you kill drops a heart 100% of the time anyway, so it's helpful in case you keep getting hit by them or allowing Molgera to eat you. [editline]4th July 2014[/editline]
Did we ever figure out why Jon left GG in the first place?
He wanted to do more of the JonTron show and move back to New York with his girlfriend. There was no fight with him and Arin, no tension, and it had nothing to do with Steam Train and Danny (which was brought around before Jon left, not after). Some people like to blow the whole thing out of proportion with conspiracies about Jon's relationship with Arin, but it really doesn't get any simpler than "you're a good friend arin but i want to go back home and do my show, bye buddy".

It's just the little things like that, or when I would be targeting molgera's tongue too late, it would lock on, lose the enemy (as it went into an attack animation) and instead of giving me a chance to run away, it would go to the first person view as they share the same button.
I never have trouble finding stuff to do in OoT. I don't get how it's boring just because you gotta read stuff and there is a little waiting involved. Honestly the pace is more dictated by the player than it is the game. If you can't stand a little waiting open up a strategy guide or something.

yeah after watching some of this arin just should not be making video game criticism videos especially legend of zelda. it's hilarious how much his opinions contradict themselves.
Did we ever figure out why Jon left GG in the first place?
He probably just had enough and wanted to move on or wanted to work on his own stuff (since his fans were getting really vocal about how little content he released due to being on Game Grumps). As far as I'm aware he left with no animosity between him and Arin (at least that's what Arin said), but since he starts every Q&A at conventions by dismissing all GG questions, I'd just assume he had enough and felt like doing more of his own thing.

"Hey Jon why'd you leave hurr durr" every time must get annoying. As it's not exactly that interesting a project anyway I doubt there's much else people would ask about it either...
I feel like this thread went through the five stages of grief rather quickly
grief over what? realising how dislikable arin is?
I find it hilarious that Arin doesn't like waiting, yet did a 107 parts of an incomplete Sonic 06 playthrough on Game gurmps where most of it was waiting for them to figure out what to do.
That's because their Sonic 06 playthrough is the best thing they'be ever done. It is much more enjoyable to see the Game Grumps play an enjoyably bad game than it is to see them play a good game. The fact that they're bad at video games only makes that more so.
Goof Troop was their best idk what you're talking about, bro.
Kirby Super Star "Dude, Dude Fucking Poppy Bros."
A long time ago, I watched Arin's video on Castlevania, and it changed my goddamn life. It taught me about the idea of options in a game, and forcing the player to think. As a young modder, this idea blew me away, and got me interested in open-world design, which got me into pretty much shaping my life around the idea of relativity, and how people act like players do, they will make decisions against the will of others (goddamn that run-on sentence) This has not a lot motivational about it. It's mostly just bitching about what was wrong with OoT, rather than what was right (vice versa with LTTP.) This could've been so much more.
The video was a bit hit and miss for me. It seems like Egoraptor's comedy is starting to become "Guys I swear I'm as funny as Jontron." Also, personally, I would have been even harsher on OOT. That's just me, though.
this has always been egoraptors style, though it was a little toned back say, 3-4 years ago, and now it's been hightened.
Not really. In my experience, Egoraptor's style has always been more about lines and delivery than the, for lack of a better word, absurd comedy style of Jontron's. I mean I love them both, and in Game Grumps the two opposing styles played off each other well, but now it just kinda feels like Ego is just trying to be Jon.
Kirby Super Star "Dude, Dude Fucking Poppy Bros."
Kirby Super Star started out hella strong, but got hurt pretty bad when they ignored the Milky Way Wishes "This plays different from the others!" warning and wound up playing most of it without powers at all.
Egoraptor's humor used to be really dry, basic parody of video gaming or other medium conventions and then somewhere along the line he tried absurd humor instead which didn't really work out for him but he decided to keep dragging it along despite his fans clearly not liking it. This is basically why Pokeawesome was good and Pokeawesome 2 was a fucking unfunny mess.

He must have the patience of a 2 year old.
Apparently they did finish the playthrough, they just didn't upload it because Jon left.
Kirby Super Star "Dude, Dude Fucking Poppy Bros."
I'll be honest, I watched about five minutes of that video, and never looked back. I was never really into Game Grumps.

Honestly this kind of humor can still work even with better and longer animations.

my first legend of zelda game was actually OoT and I actually loved the game so much, that i've replayed it multiple times, it's one of the games that I treasure most then Majora's Mask.
yeah, but there was a joke was the thing pokeawesome 2 was literally two minutes of nothing happening followed by someone screaming.
Whenever I hear in old grumps about how much work Arin was spending on that I wonder if he got brain damage or something. How did he fuck it up that bad?
