Then why did you disagree with his comment?
Because the entire game isn't objectively good, it has a lot of not so great qualities too (where as he said it was full of, which I probably dumbly assumed meant entirely sry).
Oot probably had all of these faults because it was the "First of its kind"
a 3d adventure game as grand as the world of zelda
name me any notable and good games it could have based itself off.
note, I mean notable and good, as in, at least HALF as good as zelda was, and it has to be 3D specifically

No yeah for sure, but being an innovator and first of its kind doesn't automatically make it exempt from analysis and discussion. I don't get why it matters whether it's the first or not, I want to be able to discuss it as a game.
For sure it was one of I would say, a group of games to do 3D adventure mostly right, and compared to its peers like Medievil it did it a lot better (But Medievil had a lot more personality to it, while falling down in pretty much every other way in comparison). It also inspired a lot other games in the early 2000's, especially on the early PS2.
snop

No doubt, I wish people understood this
Even Half life 2 may truly be deserving of game of the decade and probably be one of the greatest games created, and it may be easily the greatest of its time, but even that game has faults and should be analyzed. Even if they are arguably extremely minor.
Everything has faults, yeah, including MM and OoT. But some of the "faults" people bring up are just straight fucking retarded.
But really, what's disappointing to me is how people only ever seem to approach them from a gameplay perspective. With MM we're talking about a game that tackles subjects like death, jealously, alcoholism, loneliness, grief, denial, depression, inevitability, and so much else. And yet the most common complaint I hear is "there aren't enough dungeons".
like, yeah? sure? maybe? you're kinda ignoring the emotional core of the experience here though

I was one of those people as a kid.

Yknow, I'm not sure how much MM would've benefited from more dungeons anyway.
I think MM is better then OOT, but I didn't enjoy playing it as much if that makes sense.
like it's clearly a better game but I didn't get into it like OOT.

people would probably just bitch that there are too many anyways, and detract from the rest of the games quality
you can't please everyone

this is probably they main reasin it would've been bad
Skyward Sword would have benefited from more dungeons instead of reusing everything 50 times.
skyward sword is what happens when you replace the side quests from majora's mask with the banana collecting from Donkey Kong 64
I bought skyward sword, am going to play it soon. How fucked am I?

Be prepared to be bored to tears.
Then its ideal for speedrunning !
Then its ideal for speedrunning !
There's nothing in the world more entertaining than watching someone try to speed run a game with motion controls.
Then you havn't seen a good run of black knight or wind waker hd. Motion controls in those games actually make some actions easier. For example, super jumping in black knight would be impossible sans the flicking sword inputs, and winder waker benefits from the aiming a great deal.
I'll have to see how skyward sword handles tho.

Watching Cosmo spin around in his chair like a drunk ballerina at AGDQ is the definition of joy.

Gameplay is shitty and repetitive, the motion controls and aiming fuck up all the time, the graphics are what you'd expect from an end-of-a-generation Wii game (that gross, blurry, painted-on filter everything has at a distance is so ugly), Fi has successfully beat Navi as the most annoying, hand-holding, constantly-stating-the-obvious companion character of all time, but the soundtrack is fully orchestrated like Super Mario Galaxy and the story will blow your fucking mind by the endgame.

I don't think being able to hold a can between your field of view and a combine rendering you invisible is a "minor fault"

Skyward Sword is a great game, gameplay is fun as heck. It's a good enough game that I managed to forget about the flaws and not play it with a critical POV which I find myself doing a lot lately.

What really annoys me is that he's going to dismiss any criticisms of his video as Ocarina fanaticism.
Because it pretty much is ocarina fanboyism. Basically all the replies to this video have been ad hominem or claiming that he is nitpicking without providing any counter arguments. Zoot is a great game but many of the points in his video are valid and they're examples of things that mean zoot is not a perfect game. That said a few of his points are terrible.
Thanks for your amazing insight! Ya got any more pearls of wisdom for us!?
But seriously, your opinion is shit.
gee i wonder why you dislike this video so much...

it wouldnt be so bad if the points that were terrible werent the ones that he droned on for half the video and even got emotional about

gee it's almost like I already expressed why I dislike the video! hint: it wasn't that post btw

"I'm making a video about OoT(seriously who calls it fuckin "zoot"??) and LttP better bitch about SS any chance I get!"

actually the filter was for the abstract painting look which does look good in some areas. its an limitation, but placing a style on things helps it keep it looking good no matter what. look at TF2, the game is plenty of years old, but looks good because of how the style is and prevents it from looking dated.
I suck at video games but Arin is a whole new level of shit. This is coming from someone who loves arin's videos and stuff and I'm not being biased at all, but he is absolute shit at games and is shit at being funny. Sadly, no matter how cute and considerate of a person Danny might be, it was a bad choice to put him on gg, since he's not funny either. Arin is pretty much not the same funny/cool person anymore sadly, it feels like he's just a pretentious, spoiled rich kid and it's really giving me harsh views at him in a new light now. Same with Suzy too, every time I look at her (and I fucking loved suzy) all I see is... a rich, spoiled bitch :v:

its mostly because jon is also bad but knows hes terrible at video games. Jon wasn't afraid to call out arin's bullshit, meanwhile danny is quiet and goes along with whatever Arin says. In that windwaker video he basically had to lead arin to grab onto Valoo's tail with the hook. After he finally does it, Arin says its shitty. Danny tells him that they do focus on the tail when you enter the room and the hint stone tells him to look for something to latch onto. Arin just blows him off and is basically "im right because i know everything" and danny drops it. If Jon was there he would have a literal fight about it telling him how he must be god damn blind.

Exactly, and the banter between jon and arin was just funny and natural. Danny is nice and all, but what bugs me is that he hardly plays any games (but I don't watch steam train), he and arin don't switch off like arin and jon used to and Arin playing video games is godawful. Ross is awkward as fuck, Danny is too personable and Arin is just a shitty person. I think Barry is the only one what hasn't been untouched :v:

Jontron and Barry 2015
I honestly never liked Danny, and you mix him in with Egoraptor and the chemistry is just all kinds of wrong.
