i havent played ocarina much but i imagine if you stop and pace yourself its easy to spot out those spinny spiky things and get a grasp of their movement patterns
u kno, something im pretty sure arin's praised in his other sequelitis vids
and now a day has come. when jontron does a similar type of humour. but much better than egoraptor.
and is also less wrong
And since he left GG he now does that more often then once a year.

i meant the red and blue weird mushroom things on LttP that rush at you and push you around, not the spike blocks. and it is easy to predict the patterns those ones move by, because it's always the same
[editline]1st July 2014[/editline]
actually he talked about how he hated the spike blocks in 3D zelda yet one of his suggestions for the fire temple platforms was to...add a spike block, uh
I don't think this is fair either honestly, I was born in 89 for example and grew up with games and I'm used to them but that doesn't exactly mean I have similar thoughts.
Unless that's not what you're implying in which case my bad, sorry.
Well it was mostly to sum up why Arin thinks the way he does, without saying "FUCK HIM AND HIS DUMB STUPID FACE WITH MY GIANT E-PEEN".

it was a different thought to yours but i didnt really know what to call those spinny spiky things
Egoraptor is the guy that said during Game Grumps that Demon's Souls was an insult to their intelligence because there are some text messages during the tutorial that explains the controls.
Fucking Demon's Souls.
literally all those messages said were basic controls

to be fair he is an undisputed master of dark souls II
I really hate when people say the original Zelda didn't hand you instructions and that made it good. Just because you don't read the goddamn manual that comes with the game doesn't mean the instructions are not there.
Then again, Arin never reads any instructions to begin with :v:
I think the point is that even without reading the instructions, you can -do- things. Sure it's a pain in the ass and you'll be lost, but nothing feels better than on a whim saying 'oh man what if i try this' and it works.
Egoraptor complaining is equal to that of DSP

No.
Not even close.
Arin might bitch here and there, but he is still WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY More respectable than that Douchoid.

Well the point was the reference the old school style of "new area check out all the shit going on here now you know it's happening, solve it". By adding something that consistently rotates around the platforms to block your path, you could add a nice taste of interactivity and gameplay to something that's usually just menial labor at best. When you go to jump onto the platform initially, you'll already have seen the rotating wall or whatever and you'll know "ok gotta time this shit right", much like old school zelda where there's a thing crossing the screen in a pattern, so time your movements right to get past it.
This sliding fucking hockey pucks in OoT were bullshit because they weren't placed for any reason other than to hit you when you were focused on combat. They we're super easy to predict outside of it, but in combat it was near impossible to focus on fighting AND dodging those things. It's an obstacle created to specifically exploit a broken system and punish you for trying to use it.

Right now, sure, but I have a feeling he might become the next DSP. I mean there was a time where DSP was pretty good and respectable, too.

I was getting a lot of DSP vibes from him

Except as far as I can remember, there never were spikes in rooms you were focused on fighting. There may have been enemies like Keese, but you could snipe them with projectiles. I'm starting to wonder if Arin even remembered that he had other weapons than the sword.

Except egoraptor makes a lot of valid points

correction: they're there to punish you for not paying attention to where you're standing. it's almost like the designers were expecting you to lure the enemies somewhere where you wouldn't get hit, what bullshit right?
Except egoraptor makes a lot of valid points
his points are somewhat valid but he says them like a whining baby so they become hard to take seriously.

No. That is not Egoraptor.
Egoraptor was part of my childhood, he was the man that made all those funny awesome videos on Newgrounds. He was the talk of the internet, of the school lunch.
He is not DSP.
Let's just all agree that Two Best Friends Play is better than Game Grumps and hasn't gone downhill at all.
having just started playing oot 2 weeks ago, i agree with the slow pacing and long moments of just waiting. it does make it feel boring at times. although it was their first time making a 3d zelda game and besides that everything else is super well designed so i can forgive them for that.
can't say i agree with anything else in the video though. the story and dialogue is fine and makes the world feel much more alive. its like arin is stuck in the 80s and 90s with his dumb view on games. he just kinda, sucks at reviewing.

The 3DS version also helps alleviate the slow ass text crawls that plague a number of scenes and fixes the Water Temple's super ultimate tedium, so while other parts haven't aged well (wide open but mostly empty field for early game travel padding, being sent back to your starting house or the Temple of Time if you don't save and quit in a dungeon, etc.), it takes but only a few minor alterations to make the game a lot more bearable even for its age.
Still have to sit through obnoxiously lengthy scenes detailing the origins of the Goddesses and Triforce, though.
*game tells him what to do*
"gosh what am I supposed to do?"
-egoraptor playing any video game ever
I certainly dont agree with all of it but that part about Link Between Worlds being good and why it was so was spot on. Arin is really good at saying why a game is good and talking positively about them but can get sort of ranty on the other end. Most of his claims were valid though and any Zelda fan can attest to that.
One part that particularily bothered me was when he whined that every enemy in OoT should be like the Iron Knuckle. Like, no, mobs arent supposed to be that way. That would derive from the tension and experience of "minibosses and some bosses". Honestly stuff like keese arent even that difficult to take out. Some of his more shallow complaints could be remedied by, you know, being good at the game.

Congratulations! One year anniversary of Arin Bashing jokes.
Seriously guys, I understand Arin not being correct, but we Do Not have to slap his balls around because we don't like it.

What? When?
I can't believe the demon of sloth and ignorance we have today was borne from any sort of respectable man.

And you dont need to act as a one man Arin defense force because of your childhood fascination with him. The comparison to DSP wasn't baseless "ball slapping" as you might imply, and Arin, like the argument he made against the Zelda series being a spoiled rich kid, doesn't deserve or need any barrier from criticism like the one you're putting up.

I'm not putting up a barrier, I said I understand that Arin was wrong. I agree that the video was just 30 minutes of Arin just complaining about Ocarina.
But here we all are, putting Four pages of people simple saying "Wow Arin, you're turning into DSP, you're such a winy baby, you suck." And other crap like that.
It's been going on since the Grumps did Naughty Bear.
But he is very similar to DSP in that he has a ton of difficulty with games that arent easy to understand and the game for their own faults. This has been going on forever now and with the conflicting nature of the Sequelitis Arin that says "tutorials insult my intelligence, I'm not a dumb baby" and Game Grumps Arin that cant figure out what the fuck to do ever makes him seem disingenuous and hypocritical.
does egoraptor have adhd or something it might explain A LOT

The moment I realized Arin is a dumbass was watching him and Jon attempt to play Secret of Mana and bitch about not knowing what to do.
