You're fucking lucky You not showing up for that time just because you didn't feel like it is perfect reason for him to keep the money you apparently put so much effort (3 hours worth, woahoho) into. God knows how hard he worked to get this business, how many risks he's taking, and now that you fucked him over and he threatens to kick your fucking lazy, self-righteous ass, you call the police.
You're a jerkoff.
You'd sue him for 24 dollars? TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS?!
Maaan. Your freakin' cheap, you didn't deserve that pay.
Please stop using the argument "it's the principle of it"
If you really cared about the principles, you wouldn't have left early and you would have told the guy that you wouldn't be coming back to work.
Dude, you had a fucking tax free job that paid 7.5-8 $/hr. What the fuck is your problem?
OP is stupid as hell.
The police said that they can't deal with civil matters, only criminal.
If I did feel threatened enough, I could go to court and get an AVO against him, but that would take a lot of money and effort.
Really? You called the police?
Thats not how you're suposed to do.
1. You're a bad employee
2. You got trained, but just stopped coming into work without quitting, something which fucks over the boss, who works much harder than you to run his business
3. You got paid under the table
4. It's twenty-four dollars and you are considering legal action.
twenty four dollars.
you guys are forgetting something
despite whether OP deserves the money based on this quote, this still stands
the store owner promised to pay OP the following week, so he thought (or at least said) that OP deserved the money himself
[editline]21st December 2010[/editline]
also yes its just 24 dollars, but thats 24 dollars the apperantly rich ass butcher guy can definately pay
OP, it's chump change.
But yes, you still do deserve the money.
chump
I think he threatened you because you were being a total ass, you should be grateful you still had that job after skipping work.
Geeksquad!
You don't take a job, then just come to that job whenever the fuck you feel like it. That is not how the real world works. You don't deserve that $24.
You sound like a spoiled, whiny brat.
You got paid under the table, you have no way of getting the $24 back, you still got plenty of money despite being an awful employee, you have NO case if you were to take this to court. Deal with it.
Wow op you need to grow up. If you wanted to that job you should have came in everyday and if they did not need you then you could have went home.. But since you did not like it you just did not come in and fucked this guy over. You should let the employer know that you do not like the work and will be finding another area to work in. Not fucking the guy over by not letting him know that you are not coming in.

"But he promised me :(" is not a viable legal claim. He has no case because he didn't legally take the job, he signed no contract. A verbal contract is not going to hold in any country's court.
[editline]21st December 2010[/editline]
Then again he does live in Australia, so if he took it to court they'd probably ban money or butchers or some shit like that.
ITT: everyone telling OP what a shitty employee he was.
Im surprised he didn't fire you. You sound like a horrible worker. However, he does owe you that money
[editline]21st December 2010[/editline]
Kinda surprised you're freaking out about $24 though, principle or no
If op didn't sign any contracts, the boss does not owe him anything.

you sound like an ass to not show up for half the time when you were meant to be working.
He probably lost profit because you weren't there to help him.
Okay, this has already been said, but...
1. You sound like a slacker. Nobody likes a slacker.
2. Technically, you don't work there, so any lawsuit you try to push through will fall flat, leaving you to pay the court bill.
3. You're freaking out over twenty-freaking-four dollars. It's not worth it.
4. You're a dick.
Your fault for being a crappy employee, if you halfass a job you shouldn't get payed.
ban op

well that's bullshit!!
this is one of lifes little lessons, the things which stop us from growing into a leech on society, a generally bad human which most of the world seems to be now. They usually happen to all of us in some way.
Nuke em'
Threaten him back.
Threaten him back.
That leads to nowhere.
Give him crabs http://crabrevenge.com/
if i was the butcher i would pay op with 2400 pennies, provided he can carry it out.
[editline]22nd December 2010[/editline]
bleh its only 13 pounds. damn.
Good luck when you get a full time job if you can't handle a few hours.

Police won't do anything about this, and he's already tried.
You didn't deserve the money either way op.
Good luck when you get a full time job if you can't handle a few hours.
To be honest, it just was the type of job. In my mind, a butcher semt fine, but i came to realise it was horrible.
I plan on joining the military, and i do quite a few military things right now, so my full time job will be fine, so shh.
And i do admit, it was my bad pulling off the "come in whenever you feel" thing, but it's no excuse to take away pay for the hours i sacrificed to help his business.
and mind you, my sister used to work there for a few months, and the guy spread rumours about her to the customers that she was a slut and "had sex with a lebanese man on the train", which did make me not want to come there a lot...
