Agree.
Sybreed came into existence. Therefore, no.

I hate rap and auto-tune and shitty pop-stars singing "do you wanna fuck" with some techno-beats copypasted for eternity going on in the background

Time Flies sounds so much like Dogs, that'll at least catch their attention for a bit.
I'd hate PT to be "loved" by kids just because they like one song.
All generations have there shitty music and great music. Only some people (OP) are so bent on the music they like that they wont except other music.
You have to be man enough to admit when music is good. Even if its not your style.
There was shitty music every year.

More than half of these are shit, pick a random year, and you'll find out it's true for all of them.

I stated that as an example. There's other songs that I could bring up.
And yeah, I'd hate for them to be like Coheed & Cambria and Welcome Home
It's not inferior, you just have to look harder.
Music is just as good today as it was in the past. It's just different styles. Back then you had good bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy, and Black Sabbath. While now you have good bands like DCFC, Franz Ferdinand, Cage the Elephant, and many more.
I think that today, there is much less good mainstream music. Some memorable songs comes out of it, but no where near as much as in the 70's, 80's, or 90's. I feel like the underground scene is still thriving though.

Could it be because, you know, all those terrible bands that were mainstream back in the days have faded into obscurity and all the good bands stand the test of time?
The music industry will always put out shitty music, they put out the same amount of crap in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's.

That's actually a really good point. But at the same time, there's still no modern day Led Zeppelin.
Hell no.

Depends what you listen to.

I know it's an example.
it'd still piss me off though.
That, I'm in full agreement with.
I love Time Flies! It sounds so much like Dogs. :3
Yes, todays music is terrible.

Personally I think the underground scene will always thrive
It's because people, who actually have a love an passion for music support it and are always on the search for new and exciting bands.
I mean, I sure as fuck buy the albums of bands I respect and want to support. I bet lot of other people have the same view as me too, and that's why the underground/not mainstream music is so hard to kill
Find music you like then. Go onto youtube or some shit and start listening to random songs from the suggest me some music thread. Develop your taste and learn how to find good music.
Todays music was saved by Tool, Neophyte, Showtek, Eminem, Slipknot, Dope, Rammstein and many other.
lol what
These arguments are always bullshit. No, music has always been flooded with shit and has it's shining gems. It's not like some how an entire age of music was just perfect. No. No. Fuck no. There were just as many shit bands 40 years ago as there are now, maybe more now due to the ease of recording, but all the same, still a massive flood of shitty fucking bands. Why don't you know about them? Because they were shit and died because of that? Why won't anyone know the pop bands and bullshit of our generation in 20 years? Same fucking reason. Music has not degraded. You have to look for the gems, as always.
It might be stinky business but it pays off if you choose to dig through the pile of shit to find the bar of gold.
I think it's sort of a delusion, because really, people only remember the good bands of the past. Basically, all old bands listened today are the good ones. You don't get that filtering effect with today's music.
Every crappy-ass musician today will be forgotten in 20 years. We'll be be looking back on the good musicians with respect.

Also, what about Radiohead?
We're not going to dissuade him with well reasoned arguments or even samples of good music from today. He just posted this thread to rant about how the past is so much awesome and how he totally wishes he lived in 19xx
