I don't like most of todays music, there is something I just can't find in todays music that I can find in older music. I'm always open for suggestions, but sofar I don't know any mordern music that I like.
No, I wouldn't say so. There's a much larger assortment of good music to choose from now than it was in the 60's.
Old music made good bands and shit bands, new music made good bands and shit bands
nothing new, let's move on
Nope, not inferior. Only elitist pricks thinks it is.

This. There are many great bands from the late 90s-00s. People are just stuck up.
It depends on your favourite genre of music, those who like electronic music will probably turn to the 00s, those who like punk will look at the late 70s and some modern punk, etc.
No OP do you have any idea how to not listen to pop music?
Also, classifying an entire genre as "bad" is incredibly short sighted. (Not referring to the OP on that part, just a couple of posts I saw in this thread.)

Also, the Beatles are a great band but probably the most overrated band in the history of bands.

What is wrong with you
[editline]06:25PM[/editline]
That is nearly everything wrong with today's music.

What's so wrong about Rammstein and Slipknot?
What's so wrong about Rammstein and Slipknot?
Not so sure about Rammstein, but Slipknot are what the mainstream considers metal to be, while most metal fans despise and disown Slipknot.
Personally I am not a fan of them, though I don't think they deserve the hate they get.
Except for the masks. Those are fucking retarded in my opinion. :colbert:
there's a whole lotta :downs: going on here

Pretty much same thing I was saying. I'm not a fan, but the hate for them makes no sense to me.
There are plenty of good bands out there, you just have to sift through the oceans of generic metal and shitty pop songs and eventually you'll find something worthwhile.

:)
I love listening to it at some times.
This thread makes me sad to live in such an age of stupidity.
I don't know the whole sound of this generation is hip hop and rap which i hate. I listen to some rock but my Dad always played old rock so thats really what i listen to.

MOVE YOUR EYES JUST A TEENY TINY BIT AWAY FROM THE MAINSTREAM.
All these complainers don't know where to look. There is a gigantic Indie/Alternative following among today's youth. 2010 is also going to be big year for electronic, as there will be new releases by Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, and Autechre. Ceephax Acid Crew already released a great album in mid-January.
The world isn't just Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, and Lady Gaga.
No, today's music is not inferior. Stop listening to the radio and go find some bands.

typical classic rock snob
i love how not one single person who posts in the music subboard can NOT not force their opinions on others
The mainstream is shit, for the most part. There are a few gems, but it's pretty hard to find them.
To me, it seems the underground music is fucking brilliant.

sweet
i seriously jizzed twice upon reading that
I'm liking the sound of that. :)
Only Autechre has officially announced, but boc and aphex are pretty certain to be arriving. boc will be around spring, i believe
Lastly, Booth suggested that there’ll be more to come for Autechre later in 2010, sure to whet appetities of its already-excited fanbase, who are responsible for four currently circulating fake leaks of Oversteps (at last count). More on Autechre to come in the full-length article from Big Shot’s lengthy chat with Boooth, in BS31.
So at least two releases by Autechre
[editline]09:08PM[/editline]
and four fake leaks of autechre

Look harder.
The Beatles & Simon & Garfunkel > Everything
Why the funny I'm being serious

thank god for that
Could you imagine if the world was entirely made up of lady gagas, though.
Mainstream music is getting shittier and shittier; it's definitely inferior these days. However, non-mainstream music is as great as ever. The metal scene is still strong, although false metal is ruining its image.
You just have to look in the right places.
