[QUOTE=MisterMooth;20004043]Mainstream music is getting shittier and shittier; it's definitely inferior these days. However, non-mainstream music is as great as ever. The metal scene is still strong, although false metal is ruining its image.[/QUOTE] Don't tell me you're one of those "TR00 MET4L FO LIFE" faggots. False metal? Doomcore and Metalcore is what I think you're talking about, and either way, you have your head up your ass if you think that's what's ruining metal. It's attitudes of separation, elitism, and ignorance that's ruining metal.
[QUOTE=WWIII;20016467][img]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf0Xx4TMxCM[/img] Sure is all about fucking.[/QUOTE] Dude, did you just image tag a video? The rise of "popular" metal sub-genres in recent years (aka nu-metal, metalcore, etc.) has made metal become a genre directly associated with with failures and loser kids. It's caused people to generalize about the genre. Take for instance all the angsty failures in my town's high school and all the druggie dropouts that hang out in my town. They all walk around parading their Slipknot shirts and piercings, which to the general public appears to be a representation of "metal". It's ruining the image of metal, and it's making the genre lose more and more respect to non-metalheads. I hate having to defend my genre. It's not all angsty and swear-excessive garbage.

All stereotypes suck, yeah, I hate being lumped in with morons like "Maggots" and Linkin Park fans(despite the fact I listened to them too when I was 14.) But really, you have a problem with our stereotype, but not others? Emo's, goths, and just about every other subculture that's out there is ripped on worse than we are despite those stereotypes being generally totally false. Also, get your head out of your ass about piercings and shit. That's a fucking idiotic thing to be hung up about especially considering that the very nature of metal is supposed to be self expression, and you're going to get pissed about [b]someone fucking expressing themselves with piercings or tattoos?[/b]. Jesus fuck.
Yeah. Chuck Berry definitely has much more meaning behind his music than todays "MY MOMMY WON'T BUY ME RAZORZ, ANYMORE!"

[QUOTE=MisterMooth;20017520]I never said I was "hung up" about piercings "and shit". I was simply describing the people in my town.[/QUOTE] And saying they bring a bad name to metal heads everywhere. That is being hung up about someones personal choice. Contradiction much?
[QUOTE=HumanAbyss;20017547]And saying they bring a bad name to metal heads everywhere. That is being hung up about someones personal choice. Contradiction much?[/QUOTE] I don't have much of a problem with tattoos and piercings. A lot of people do. It strengthens the stereotype
[QUOTE=MisterMooth;20017644]I don't have much of a problem with tattoos and piercings. A lot of people do. It strengthens the stereotype[/QUOTE] If this has never been clarified for you, there is no way to remove a stereotype from a group. Yeah, we get stereotyped. No one enjoys it, but if that's the problem with the stereotype you have, then I have no idea what to tell you. Eventually, stereotypes slow down, or fall apart, but trying to remove them by "unfying" or cutting off the parts of us that aren't really part of us anyways, you're not making it any better.
I have a problem about piercings and tattoos. Not related to metal at all, I just have a problem with them. I've never understood the concept of willingly enduring the pain of shoving a piece of metal in your body, or the pain of having a needle jabbed into your skin and injecting ink. All the non-earlobe piercings irritate me to all sin. Nostril, nose (bull rings), chin, eyebrow, lip, top of the ear, and anywhere else on the face. All of those and any large or otherwise noticeable lobe piercing irritates me, as well as having multiple piercings in [b]any[/b] one location (like having three piercings in the top of your ear). I don't much care for even simple little studs in the earlobe, but I can deal with them because they're so small and are in such a minor part of the face that I don't really notice them too much. As for tattoos, well, I just don't much care for them. Small ones seem kind of pointless, sleeves look poser-ish, and then ones on the back are pointless because no one will see them unless you walk around without a shirt on, which is also pretty poser in my eyes. Like I said, though, that's pretty unrelated to metal. Except for the fact that if these people listen to metal, it makes me mentally facepalm. Though just seeing them makes me mentally facepalm, so whatever. :colbert: Long rant is long.

I've had numerous piercings, and they've never been very painful at all. Same thing with tattoos. There's nothing wrong with having them, and the natural bullshit reaction is to react with indignation and drives to separate from them. Is it ok? No. It isn't. Why's it wrong to do something that makes you happy and harms no other? I guess you facepalm at a lot of people due to the fact these things are common now. It's an individual choice. If you don't like it, so be it, doesn't change anything, and it certainly makes you seem a lot more childish when you're not able to get over a simple aesthetic issue. If someones doing something solely for the self satisfaction of doing it.. I can't see anything wrong with it as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. No one should try and stop that.
Well, I don't like the majority of Modern Music. For example, Nu-Metal. Doesn't even compare to some of the older stuff. But some if it can be okay. Los Campesinos' first album was pretty good. Passion Pit might get you some weird looks, but I enjoy it. Doesn't have the soul that a good amount of music used to have, though. That I feel safe saying.

Depends where you look. I've come to love the new drum 'n bass and dub-step.
