I hope they get the Doom feel right this time around. Doom 3 was pretty much AND THEN A SKELLY POPPED OUT (with missile rocket bombs) every time you went around a corner/ walked past the narrow junction/ stepped into the suspicious room/ flipped the important switch/ read the scary log/ picked up the item/ entered the room/ took a step/ took a breath/ had a heartbeat/ passed a second. I hope ID took some notes from the Brütal doom mod! It's like the doom that always should have been.
Anything to dethrone Cawadudi and bring back the explorative survivalist sprawl of the early days is a step in the right direction. Important to keep the level design somewhat sensible though, or failing that implement an inherent teleport-based fast-travel system to offset the flow-breaking having to walk back to somewhere you forgot to check for goodies or a piece of the map's puzzle. Hell it's a game where teleportation brought the demons in, so why not give the protagonist a teleporter of his own?
Yeah teleportation is a HUGE thing in DOOM, it has to be used. I want UT-like experience of teleporting right inside of the enemies, ripping them apart.
I remain skeptical until I see some gameplay footage
given the mismanaged development and numerous restarts this project had, coupled with all the turnovers at ID, im not too optimistic . plus, i know this is a teaser, but this trailer says literally nothing. i think we all couldve guessed that doom 4 was gonna have doors and demons
I loved doom3 and RoE. I hope the theme to doom4 is just as badass as d3's

If you could find maps of the levels, you could use your Teleharness (inhabited by some sort of heavenly spirit) to locate weakpoints in the space-time fabric and warp to that area, hopefully warping inside a Pinky Demon causing them to explode viscerally.
If you have an SSD texture streaming isn't an issue at all [editline]10th June 2014[/editline] Plus it does wonders for optimization
Yes. For everyone else though, it does the complete opposite.
Holy shit, I've been waiting so long for this.
If this plays anything like Wolfenstein TNO then I'm buying this immediately.
I'll be very disappointed if it ends up as a Wolf: TNO reskin.
I'm not sure they're developmentally related, but I hope everything good about Wolfenstein TNO is brought over to make this a fast paced, shootbang adventure. Where if you run and gun, it's just like the days of old - but if you stop and smell the roses, there's still story. TNO got that perfect. Doom 3 got the plot and background right, but messed up on the action.
I really hope it wont run like Wolfensten: TNO. It ran like shit for me when it shouldn't have, it stuttered constantly if I tried to max the game out, and even the texture resolution was pathetic even on highest settings. The art direction in it was amazing, but the ID engine did not do it justice.
The trailer would have been so much better without the woman giving the cheesy commentary.
I hope the game gets some really good mod support. One of the biggest strengths of the original two games was the modular nature of the game which made it really simple mod. One of the reasons I keep returning to the original games are thanks to the absolutely amazing modding community.

Want to make a room in Hammer? Build a boxes around it to form a room. Want to make a room in Unreal? Build a box to subtract from positive space. Want to make a room in Doom? Four clicks and enter. [sp]It's obvious I remember nothing about Hammer/Unreal. All I know is I can make a room in Doom in about five seconds flat.[/sp]
I am getting more and more frustrated that my Wolfenstein preorder copy got lost in mailing hell somewhere along the line because I really would have loved to play the doom 4 beta when it's out. That and I lost 40 euros buying a game that I never got.

color me hyped
I loved doom3 and RoE. I hope the theme to doom4 is just as badass as d3's
Or even coming close in badassery to E1M1:
They better have some of the old weapon designs. I want my accordion plasma rifle damnit
The trailer would have been so much better without the woman giving the cheesy commentary.
It ain't doom if it ain't cheesy
People in this thread keep mentioning "RoE", what is that? Google gives me nothing but korean mmos.
Resurrection of Evil
Couldn't you get a refund?
I'm trying to have them either resend the game or give me a refund. The game WAS sent and it was on the way, it just hasn't showed up in 21 days (game.co.uk sends orders like 5 days before the game is released, and they arrive at most two or three days after release). To me it sounds like the game fell out of the truck at some point in delivery.
I love how the door even looks like the classic doom doors
They're gonna show more at quake con, but i'm not going this year :(.
I need this. But not until I see gameplay. Gotta see if it's more like the first 2 or like the 3rd one.
I need this. But not until I see gameplay. Gotta see if it's more like the first 2 or like the 3rd one.
I'll be fine with it eitherway.
I'm actually really, really, really disappointed by this trailer. Shouldn't a proper Doom trailer be more like this? Doom didn't get famous for the story and great CGI pre-rendered demons. I want great level design and fast paced arcadey shooting. [editline]10th June 2014[/editline] Also, now I really want to play Brutal Doom.
