Why? The horror in Doom 3 was done right, it was still pretty much run and gun too towards the Hell levels.
Because Doom wasn't a scary game up until 3. To this day I don't consider Doom 3 a real Doom game.
I'm actually really, really, really disappointed by this trailer. Shouldn't a proper Doom trailer be more like this? Doom didn't get famous for the story and great CGI pre-rendered demons. I want great level design and fast paced arcadey shooting. [editline]10th June 2014[/editline] Also, now I really want to play Brutal Doom.
It's not a trailer, it's a teaser trailer. It's literally meant to tease you. If you want to see gameplay, wait until there is gameplay.
Cautiously optimistic, but optimistic nonetheless
Brink of discovery, new technology. Is she talking about the teleportation device from Doom3 that opened a portal to Hell?
The actual reveal trailer better have the most intense metal theme ever conceived.
there's no longer the hype train. there's now the hype spaceship and we're all boarding it to planet Mars so we can send these demons back to hell.
Hold your horses. We are talking about the CURRENT id software right now, I implore everyone to be cautious and wait for quakecon.
The actual reveal trailer better have the most intense metal theme ever conceived.
It's probably going to be some trendy modern "dubstep". :v:
Why? The horror in Doom 3 was done right, it was still pretty much run and gun too towards the Hell levels.
no it wasn't the horror in Doom 3 was meh at best and the gunplay was absolute garbage

Reminds me of my reaction to Wolfenstein TNO
no it wasn't the horror in Doom 3 was meh at best and the gunplay was absolute garbage
Not really but ok
ok so based on most arguments, any more doom installments are only going to be good if you've got a kickin' rad SoundBlaster card, youve done your homework so mum can stay off your back, latest gaming mags acclaim doom for achieving a fantastic new standard, said installment is Doom and its the '90s
From what I'm seeing in this trailer, isn't that the actual canon story of the Wolfenstein/DOOM RPG games?
In Wolfenstein RPG, the "Harbringer of Doom" demon is summoned. After being defeated by Blazkowicz, it vows vengeance on his descendent. In DOOM II RPG you play as B.J.'s great, great, great, grandson Sergeant Stan Blazkowicz and fight the beast again, now as the cyberdemon. [t]http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110314042500/doom/images/3/35/Meet_cyberdemon.png[/t] More trivia: According to 'The Official Hint Manual for Wolfenstein 3-D', Commander Keen aka Billy Blaze aka William Joseph Blazkowicz II is the grandson of Wolfenstein 3D's B.J. Blazkowicz.
Commander Keen reboot next pls
Didn't Tom Hall try to gather money for one?
Brink of discovery, new technology. Is she talking about the teleportation device from Doom3 that opened a portal to Hell?
Don't you mean ALL the Dooms?
imagine they had wad support so you could play PWAD's on doom 4 without converting it [editline]10th June 2014[/editline] like maps and shit [editline]10th June 2014[/editline] sunder on doom 4 would be amazing
Please have the iconic marine armor. Doom 3's was kinda cool armor, but not for the doomguy. I want that helmet back. And I want his face at the bottom that reacts to his surroundings and pain. Doom 1 and 2 had so much personality just because of that fucking moving portrait alone. I hope they still keep him mute cutscene-wise though.
They put the iconic door opening sound, but also They put the original door too

So Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

The player should be able to identify with the protagonist.
Doom 3 is one of my favorite fps games. Those graphics blew me away (then) and give me a great surge of nostalgia (now). I get that it probably was too linear and typical...but I still plug it in once a year and have a blast. This is my first bit of excitement from the lineup so far! Shit, second bit. GTA5PC was first.

He'd react to almost every thing you can do/see. Look in a certain direction, his eyes will look in that direction too until you stop moving. Pick up a PDA or look at a screen like in Doom 3, his eyes will do a squinty back-n-forth motion to look like he's reading. A different face for first-time encounters with every type of enemy, several pained faces, several generic idle expressions, some hidden goofy nonsense and of course the new weapon evil grin, all of which changing with various levels of health. It'd pretty much be the greatest exercise in facial animation and motion capture in a game that didn't even need it.
They better have some of the old weapon designs. I want my accordion plasma rifle damnit
http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Doom_(VG)#Plasma_Gun
If this plays anything like Wolfenstein TNO then I'm buying this immediately.
If it does play like TNO i'm gonna buy ten copies, one so I can play it and the others so I can build a shrine dedicated to Doom and Wolfenstein
looks like its going to be way too dark again
If you have an SSD texture streaming isn't an issue at all [editline]10th June 2014[/editline] Plus it does wonders for optimization
I played Wolfenstein: The New Order and I have 16 GB of RAM, so I assumed the game would have preloaded the textures into RAM instead of streaming them from the HDD every time, but looking at the memory usage that didn't seem to be the case. Is there any reason why the game engine can't do that? That, or it didn't help as much as I thought.
Shit Doom 3's graphics still blow me away today. [img_thumb]http://i62.tinypic.com/jj1ok9.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i61.tinypic.com/2akmpuu.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i57.tinypic.com/282nz2x.jpg[/img_thumb] I feel so bad for the suckers who bought the BFG Edition. If you're interested in turning your (original) Doom 3 into a real 2012 remaster, see here: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1392612&p=44786095&viewfull=1#post44786095 http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1392612&p=44786510&viewfull=1#post44786510 (Sikkmod settings shown in this post)
The original Doom 3 lagged me when I'm shot at, and Sikkmod crashed the game every time I'm loading the previous game. I'm pretty much have to play the BFG edition due to this. [editline]11th June 2014[/editline] I'm kinda glad I bought both.
How many would not get the idea that the character is known as the Marine, and that the Cyberdemon (a.k.a Harbringer) is back to get 'im... again. Is the Spear of Destiny in danger once again?
