I used to go to a pretty "ghetto" school a few years ago, and I gotta say I enjoyed the whole social scene there. Social cliques were not so prominent, and it was basically a mix of all types of individuals enjoying time with each other. I loved it. This generation, in my opinion, has the special traits of being more accepting, technologically inclined, and socially dynamic as compared to other generations.
Take time out to make some different types of friends, it's the only way to heighten your tolerance and gain an understanding of other people.

I'm sorry but what is your point, are you saying that the news should cover addictions that aren't detrimental to health as well as stories about 10 year olds who die because there parents forgot they existed because of WoW or whatever? There will always be stigma against certain things and it generally exists where the item in question is either harmful to a persons well-being or commonly regarded to be so.
