How is press button, man falls down any worse than press button, then press a different button, man falls down?
Ok so you agree that there isn't a difference, like I said from the start. Now on to point 2, the QTE system has allowed them to make fight aesthetics much, much prettier. In the end, we get a much better end product.
Because one of them looks hilariously bad
But I mean mechanically speaking. Because if it's just a matter of animation quality, they could have just left the "spam M1" method alone and just improved/varied the animations.
that would mean that essentially we'd get 47 smacking, headbutting or kicking someone, and then doing one of those again so the victim goes down in a totally clipping fashion. Great.

Great.
Okay, fair point, but then why not just make the first click take the victim down? Have a QTE just tacks on an additional button press for no reason. Admittedly so does the old system, which I'm not saying is perfect, and in fact I agree is kind of inferior, but I'm mostly arguing against QTEs, not for blood money's hand-to-hand method. It's not like this is a huge, game-breaking ordeal to me or anything, it's a fairly minor, nit-picky complaint I admit, I just don't see what the point in forcing the use of twice the inputs for what should be a simple process is.
Square Enix has been releasing many great games lately, many innovative games too. I'm starting to become a fan.

It also feels like you're in more control of the situation, it keeps you immersed so you don't put down the controls for like 5 seconds while 47 beats someone up.
Absolution's QTEs at least force you to pay a little attention and even allows for a slim chance of failure, whereas being able to mash one button guarantees success every time in blood money's system.
Doesn't the fact that you attacked someone in the first place kind of imply that you're already paying attention to the game? And while it's true that a QTE might add a very slim chance of failure, what's the point? If you've already hit someone, shouldn't that be enough? When you use the fiber wire, you don't have to do a QTE to make sure you kill them, so why do so for bare-handed combat?
If I hit you in the face you won't get knocked out for 10-20 minutes.
If I hit you in the face you won't get knocked out for 10-20 minutes.
Now this is about realism? Since when has Hitman ever been super-realistic?
The thing is if I hit you once I perform one action but it might not be enough. The fibre wire is one action, melee take outs are like several punches and/or kicks.
The thing is if I hit you once I perform one action but it might not be enough. The fibre wire is one action, melee take outs are like several punches and/or kicks.
Which is why I'm arguing that melee take-downs should just be one action too. 47 headbutts/punches/in some other way strikes the victim in the head, the victim goes down, simple as that.
I just said you don't go down with one punch.
I just said you don't go down with one punch.
In the real world, yes, but there are many things that occur in Hitman that wouldn't actually work in the real world, in fact in Blood Money just slapping someone on the side of the head with a gun knocked them out.
Square Enix has been releasing many great games lately, many innovative games too. I'm starting to become a fan.
And they're taking flak for it. Their numbers aren't doing the hottest, especially Square Enix themselves, Sleeping Dogs didn't sell well at all and it's great fun.
If I hit you in the face you won't get knocked out for 10-20 minutes.
I've always complained how your footsteps are somehow different from everyone elses' in all stealth games. Like, you take out every enemy but one, you'd think the lack of footsteps would be enough to warrant insecurity, but no.
wow lol how can some of you people be ignorant enough to think this will be to hitman what conviction was to splinter cell? morons. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] anyways, cool trailer. i love the look of 47 where he has his jacket's collar popped, and shirt not fully buttoned.
Square Enix has been releasing many great games lately, many innovative games too. I'm starting to become a fan.
Mostly because they scooped up a series of great IPs and put a few Montreal studios to work on them. Hitman Absolution and Deus Ex HR were developed in the same building, as is the new Thief I think.
What engine is this game going to be using? Looks like the euphoria / whatever the fuck GTA IV and Max Payne 3 used. Would be awesome if it had the same physics engine as those
It's using the Glacier engine, which is inhouse developed by IO Interactive. Their trailer CGI was done by the same people that did the Final Fantasy ones.
Anything remotely synthesized in a song means it's dubstep [editline]17th November 2012[/editline]
And they're taking flak for it. Their numbers aren't doing the hottest, especially Square Enix themselves, Sleeping Dogs didn't sell well at all and it's great fun.
They don't promote their games enough to be honest, I've heard about blops 2 on TV, on youtube, on the radio (ffs ikr) yet I only ever saw sleeping dogs on steam, nowhere else
I have been keeping my eye on this for quite some time. Pre-ordering it today. I see no problem about the melee QTE's. Certainly better than coconuting people all day with the same animation. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] Pageking, so I guess you can watch this slightly [sp] super [/sp] old video if you haven't already.
Still don't know why they got rid of Jesper Kyd for the soundtrack since he's always been amazing. I'm hoping it doesn't end up being the biggest mistake they've made for the game. (But atleast they got David Bateson back for 47; even though they failed to get Vivienne McKee back for Diana along with him.)
They didnt, he's been busy on Assassins Creed.

I think the tracks in absolution really set the mood, they are very gritty. It doesn't matter much for Diana's voice actor because there was only a small talking scene with Diana in it,and even then the voice is pretty close. It is not hard to replicate a voice like Diana.
you funny man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfbnSIpFm9I&t=5m18s
The same thing happened in Codename 47 where you had to assassinate lee hong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=5qgMSrRHkRQ#t=646s
i'm so fucking hyped for this game to come out.
Hitmans always had a really good atmosphere despite it being quite gritty.
the sound of someone who doesn't read threads
So he should have read the thread to see that everyone else is jizzing over the game and then realized not to voice his opinion because it was contrarian? lol talk about a hive-mind attitude
So he should have read the thread to see that everyone else is jizzing over the game and then realized not to voice his opinion because it was contrarian? lol talk about a hive-mind attitude
He should have read the thread so he knew what he was posting was already went over and countered with a legitimate argument along with proof. You should also have read the thread before posting the same video in the main thread.
Hitman: Absolution Dressing up as a wrestler and wrestling against the target inside of a wrestling cage while in front of a large crowd who clearly don't give a fuck about the 6-foot tall ripped bald man WITH A FUCKING BAR CODE ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD snapping the target's neck and walking off. Hitman: Blood Money Dressing up as an executioner and executing the target in the middle of center stage of an opera theater while in front of a large crowd who clearly don't give a fuck about the 6-foot tall ripped bald man WITH A FUCKING BAR CODE ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD blowing the target's brains all over the stage and walking off. So different
this coming from someone that actually has the name "Anonymous?" doesn't surprise me at all.
So he should have read the thread to see that everyone else is jizzing over the game and then realized not to voice his opinion because it was contrarian? lol talk about a hive-mind attitude
oh here we go again that flawless "Hive mind" argument I'll just put this gun on the table now... so... why do you think that was a good point?
