• Female game characters, sexist or not?
I wouldn't mind this I like turtleneck sweaters
Good for you :downs:
It isn't the characters. It's the developers. for instance, developers of games like Dead or Alive create the girls to be arousing. That's the point they're trying to make: this girl is hot, but you may want to look out for her. But in other games, like Mirror's Edge, they didn't want the girl to be another video game sex goddess. They designed the character to be modest but attractive.
it's more male chauvinism than anything the idea that the perfect woman males want is a big-breasted woman that needs rescuing even games which feature a relatively normal female character still has elements of being a weaker sex that needs to be saved
Good for you :downs:
Bell bottoms are pretty hot too if they're slim cut
The only game recently that I can think of with average female characters is: Uncharted (not the Brazilian bitch in 2).
Bell bottoms are pretty hot too if they're slim cut
Ok :downs:
Ok :downs:
Are you saying I'm living in the 1970s [editline]9th May 2011[/editline] You bastard

I don't like most female characters in popular media. Because yeah, they're almost always depicted as BADASS SEXY DEADLY SUPERSMART PERFECT ANGELS OF DESTRUCTION or something like that. In war themed movies and FPS games they always seem to happen to be wearing a tanktop and tight pants instead of normal uniforms/armor, and they always have some 'cool' specialization just to show you how much ass she kicks and flaunt around her boobs. They're never just part of a squad or a regular soldier.
I really like most female characters in popular media. Because oh man, they are often almost perfect women. In war themed movies and FPS games they always seem to be wearing something very arousing and sexy, with plenty of cleavage, and, with the new jiggle bone technology, well, you know ;). Luckly they're never something boring like part of a squad in full armor or some shit.

[editline]8th May 2011[/editline] Or sometimes I just look up porn of them anyway.
Sexist? Yes. Unfairly so? No. Take a look at MALE game characters for a change... For every game where you play as a ridiculously proportioned girl, there's ten more where you're a super buff dude with a deep voice and asses to kick.
Miranda from ass defect 2 is pretty over sexualized. [editline]8th May 2011[/editline] tali is not over sexualized but she's prettier.

Am I the only guy who isn't into the "sexy bigbreasted" girls? I would always see it as a cheap tactic to attract males and I wouldn't be amused by it. Whenever I pick a female character, I would usually modify her to make her nonsexual.
I don't think videogames have ever made an ugly female protagonist. Even alix is just amazing looking even though she more toned down then most females in videogames. But hopefully over time videogames will mature and make more females more interesting then just there breasts.
it's funny cause this implies that A. if they had a male character they wouldn't be able to resist staring at their ass and B. that they are terrible players because they stare at their character's ass instead of looking at what they're doing
Yea I never understood that excuse either. Sounds extremely homophobic too. [editline]8th May 2011[/editline] And it sounds like they're trying to cover up the fact that they're homosexuals and cant resist staring at a mans ass as apposed to playing the game and looking at what normal people would be looking at... of course you already said that though, but yeah, haha
As long as the gaming industry is dominated by males then you're always going to have highly sexualised and stereotypical weak women in games
Source + boob physics = Vindictus
Avatar fits.
It's the only reason why I play it.
Source + boob physics = Vindictus
You would watch that video and like it 100000000 times.
What about duke nukem? he's a stereotypical male and there's more I'm sure. You guys act like this is such a bad thing. They're video games, not historical documentaries. Exaggeration of physical and mental characteristics is just part of making it over-the-top and entertaining. If you're looking for average-looking people who you'd see on an average day then play the sims or something, that's what those games are there for, boring RL shit. lol.
Only time it annoyed me was in RA3 where they completely overdid it. I'm sure it was half mean't as a joke but it wasn't funny just stupid.
Who said boob physics were bad?

Shouldn't you look at this both ways? Sure most female characters are attractive and typically dress a little skimpy, but the men aren't exactly ugly either. Look at dat ass.
