Ironic how Africa is where we all began, and the first civilizations on their borders or within them (egypt and sumeria) were some of the most successful (in terms of longevity) in history, yet now the majority of the place has gone to chaos. Egypt hasn't of course, but still. Egypt and a few others, like Cameroon and such.
For America: We need to fix our own country before helping others.
Maybe if we went in to kick some Warlord ass it would be different.
African countries are full of corrupt warlords and gangs.
Remove them, than we can give them food and knowledge (food so they don't starve as we teach them)

The real thing that needs to be done is change the infrastructure of the countries and have farms and shit, but unfortunately there are shitty governments running the countries. Food aide helps solve the problem temporarily.

Funny, Africa got lots of blood diamonds and are so poor.

Diamonds are worth very little (comparatively) when uncut. The rough diamonds get sent overseas for processing. Also, the people running the diamond mines are not Africans but foreign companies. Consequently, Africa does not get much of an economic boost from diamonds. Sure the people working there have jobs but manual labour doesn't pay that well.
But the entire reason they have so many children is because so many of them die young, without children then they're fucked when they get old and can't work for their own food anymore. It's the same way in such environments anywhere. Notice how the richer countries tend to have smaller families? If these people in Africa were eventually brought out of poverty then their population would die down still as they'd not need so many children.
They'll only escape poverty by having a maximum of one child per household. So the food coming in can actually be scared.
Also AIDS is so rife in africa you end up with millions of kids without parents, it's so totally out of control.
Before we started sending food, they tried to scavenge things.
Let's say their life standard was on level 20, ours is on level 120.
When we gave them food and such, their level raised to 25.
At first they didn't know what it was like to live above level 20, know that we've showed them the better life they only feel more miserable.
So no, feeding doesn't help, it has made it worse.
What we should've done was start projects right away, and if some of them died because of starvation, so be it. It's natural, and don't come with that shit of "we made them this way". We didn't, we just had a better course in history.

FYI I've studied philosophy for a few years, and the ethical problems concering Africa are widely discussed in scriptures and what not.
If you don't understand what I'm saying, just ask me to elaborate.
But south africa has some of the richest soil in the world to make food and they can't be arsed to feed themselves and rely on aid. but they do have problems with warlords and the such.

You're silly, maybe if there were more sub-Saharan African countries that had some form of infrastructure, then maybe they could easily distribute food and contraception to appease you. But they don't, so fuck you.
Let's see, we could either:
Help Africa develop a stable infrastructure and governance, with things like good water supplies and agriculture, this would have to be a massive project, take many years and be very difficult - not to mention expensive - but would solve the problem at the root.
or
Keep giving them a bit of food each year and kid ourselves that we're doing everything we can - simple, easy, looks good, but actually completely useless.
What one do you think a politician will choose?
