Sucks you are going to Miami... Tip: Don't wear any wrong colors... Red... Blue that sort of thing, You may get shot... [editline]9th February 2011[/editline]
No, because they aren't joking. It seems every British facepuncher is either a massive dick that flames every thread that has to do with America OR they are completely the opposite and call the other cocks out for it. It's like a fat kid being called fat, "Calm down, dude, it's a joke" No, you're calling a fat person who knows they're fat, fat. I'm not saying America is terribly necessarily, but that seems to be the consensus by Europeans.
They are just pissed because they have no dentist... Understandable...
What the hell is wrong with everyone, as soon as someone brings up U.S.A. everyone starts bumping dicks and shit, like honestly, if you don't live in America, and you don't like it, who the fuck cares, you don't live there. Oh yeahhh America is fat and blah blah fucking blah, do you live here? No. Do you want to? No. So shut the hell up. This guy just wants to know what to do in the case of which he IS going to America, not listen to stupid shit about bigot views from idiots that get all their information from forums and television. Also OP, Mall of America.
Listen... Don't get angry over the America jokes... They have never been to our country they have no idea what is like they hear all the negative things and think that is what it must be like... Deep down they wished they had our freedoms and things American's do... It is jealousy, just laugh at the jokes... I will put it this way, I Fucking Love being American. We have everything, I would never want to be born anywhere else not even for the cool accents =p
Florida right?
No Miami, New York. :downs:
psssssst its this attitude that makes us get made fun of
No it's not. We would not have the attitude if we didn't hear the stupid jokes 24/7.
Heh, I disagree with the claims that the USA has no culture of its own, but you seem to agree with it. After all, you're suggesting that they produce no culture themselves but just absorb other cultures.
Because it was started by existing cultures through immigration. Now if it was just the Native Americans and people from other countries hadn't shown up, it probably would have its own original culture.
That's where I am, not where I'm from. And I have lived in many different places, which are in many different countries. A person doesn't realize many thing until he hasn't lived outside his home country. And I was not talking about Poland, which is also, except partially the Television, barely influenced by any other countries. Also, the knowledge of knowing where I am, doesn't mean that you know how it is.
Poland was heavily influenced by germany [editline]9th February 2011[/editline]
It's like a fat kid being called fat, "Calm down, dude, it's a joke" No, you're calling a fat person who knows they're fat, fat. Oh fuck off; the U.S Isn't a bad country. Why, England has Fish and Chips, that's like a heart attack to anyone. It's like right next to a big mac. The U.S was formed in the 1700's, thats only 300 years we've been around, why the fuck do you think we have no culture? We mixed the culture of all other countries into one. Seriously back the fuck off, the first page is always about hating on the U.S. for it's negatives. Who helped the Haitians during their time of need? Like seriously. And American women are fucking hot.
Miami is an awesome city, I live in South Florida myself. There's a lot to do and see if you're visiting. For those of you saying that there's no such thing as culture in the US, it really varies place to place. Here in south Florida we have people from literally all over the world. There's a huge Latin American influence as well (myself included, family being Dominican). Different parts of Florida, as well as the US, are almost like whole other countries depending on where you go. Hialeah, FL is pretty much an extension of Cuba, Little Havana. Little Haiti is a largely Haitian population obviously. Just a little further north toward central and northern Florida just about everyone I've met has a thick southern accent that's nearly nonexistent where I live. The US has been called a 'melting pot' for a reason. There are people from all over the world throughout the country, cultural traditions are brought with them. Ways of life are drastically different in different communities. I'm not going to sit here and argue that the US is the greatest country in the world or something because that's really a matter of opinion. Hate or love the country as much as you want whether you live here or not, just don't go forcing your opinion on it onto other people. As for the OP, there's plenty to do around the beach. Even just walking around the area and exploring can be fun, there's a LOT of good food (no not McDonalds or some other fast food chain). Check out the restaurants, you can probably find just about any kind of food you want, from Cuban sandwiches to Guyanese curry, it's seriously all here. Further north of Miami if you don't mind the drive is Fort Lauderdale. Hollywood Beach is a lot more chill than down by Miami if you just wanna relax. There's Bayside, it's like a harbor with lots of stores and restaurants, usually with live music or other entertainment going on outside, nice place to just kind of explore. Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale is also nice, again with the stores and restaurants. There's the Museum of Discovery and Science, I know there's the IMAX theater there too. And if I remember right there's a theater pretty much right across the street from that if you'd want to see a live performance of a play or something. Driving pretty much all the way west you'll hit the Everglades. I know there are airboat tours out there and if you're into fishing there's a shit ton of bass to catch. You can go south of Miami and down into the Keys. Personally I've only been to Key Largo and had a lot of fun out there, beaches are really clean and clear and there's a lot to do. Fishing, watersports, and oh god the seafood is amazing, that could depend on where you go though.
Go to a McDonalds and be the only one not using a wheel chair because they are all fat. Also, dont spill your drink, because if you fuck up a nascar shirt its actually a treason against the constitution. Also, whatever you do, act like a pious cunt, because youre smarter than every american, keep that in mind
And American women are fucking hot.
Depends on where you go I think. Down in Miami though, just chill by the beach and I can guarantee you'll see something you like ;) ;) ;)
Go to a McDonalds and be the only one not using a wheel chair because they are all fat. Joking or not I really do wonder why the rest of the world thinks we're ignorant when there are people who really do believe that elsewhere.
Stupid jokes aside, I've traveled to quite a few states throughout my life and 4 states in the past 2 years through the military. There's a lot. The food is the best to be honest.. I've never been to Florida but be glad it'll be nice out there. Miami is a big city so no doubt there will be all kinds of ads for all kinds of stuff to do. You just have to go find it. Also, you'll see a lot of different types of people. I'd be a horrible liar if I tried to say there aren't fat people in America, but that's just how we are. There's pretty much any type of person you can think of here. And take the advice of Mr. Sun. "little mom and pop businesses" will show you the true way. These are the places that aren't the mainstream McDonald's and sell the same burgers you'll see anywhere else. Oklahoma had the biggest burger ever (which I sadly didn't get to try while I was stationed in Texas) and I'm sure North Carolina has some kind of food tradition. Food really is where you'll see the differences.. so try as much as you can. Hell there are fast food restaurants here that aren't in Minnesota where I'm from, and ones I never saw in Texas or Mississippi, or when I went to Vegas. Take advantage of what you can see. There will be something you like to do you will just have to find it.
Funny that you bring up Texas with this whole culture thing going on. Texas was originally Mexican. It's culture and food are influenced by Mexico. The United States didn't pick up Texas until 1845. All history prior to that is Mexican, from it's colonization to its rebellion, to it's fight for independence and becoming it's own County. Texas Longhorn were a specialty breed brought in by settlers. Texas' long beef BBQ, and cowboy culture is all thanks to Mexico. Speaking of beef... They offer a 72oz. steak you get for free if you can eat the whole thing.
:shobon: Not really. My country doesn't come from another continent, and doesn't use all of its architecture and traditions. Basically, there are only two influenced things, partially TV media and Gaming.
we have more guns than you /thread
You should come to california. We have Disneyland, and fine women.
Go everywhere!
Wasn't Hollywood highly influenced by Canadians?
Try India
Try India
Bollywood anyone? :smug:
I was born in Hungary, but I moved here at age 5 and have lived here for 13 years, and I'm starting to hate it.
ITT Americans take america jokes too seriously and get mad.
Which is why people find it so funny to make those jokes in the first place.
ITT: America is the greatest county on earth.
Going to Miami huh? Solve crimes and make shitty one-liners. Oh, and play as much GTA: Vice City as you can, it's exactly the same in real life. :downs:
Going to Miami huh? Solve crimes and make shitty one-liners.
and bring sunglasses to take off whenever you make aforementioned one liners.
be more like tom selleck
Also, Holly wood and US television is all coming from the base culture that came from Europe (mostly, and then in minor amounts from other countries). The US does not have an "own" culture like many other nations because it was formed (and grew) in a time in which communication and travel was a lot more viable than most other countries' times.
