He's going to Miami, not New Jersey.
my point is you're dumb, wrong, and ignorant, and should shut the fuck up
there better?
No, saying Im dumb is not a point...
Says the Greek kid according to whom "when Greece had theaters, they were climbing trees to find food in the rest of the world"
Got any objections to that?
Well, that's the kind of attitude I can't stand. Unless you're a troll.
I don't honestly believe we are the best. But we have freedom among many other things. Why would so many people immigrate to the US if we didn't have something special.

Yeah, they come cause they envy your culture, that's why.
Miami? Expect to see jews walking around in suits and briefcases
Because it was started by existing cultures through immigration. Now if it was just the Native Americans and people from other countries hadn't shown up, it probably would have its own original culture.
I'd find it hard to believe if you would tell me the culture of 1700s England is identical to the England of modern day.
No, saying Im dumb is not a point...

Apart from the obvious hypocrisy yes I also object to the fallacious claim that the rest of the world climbed trees to find food. In fact such practice was more widespread in Greece than non-Mediterranean Europe, as in Mediterranean areas the trees actually bore edible fruit. You would climb them to get your precious olives.
If you're a man you will go on the slingshot.

That, and economic opportunity.

I'm glad we agree...

you know I was being sarcastic, right?
Yeah, they come cause they envy your culture, that's why.
actually yes. That is why people immigrate. They want the same opportunities, to be able to express their religion and beliefs. To get away from the oppressive culture that may influence them in some middle eastern, Eastern European or Asian country.
Is it possible you have said something intelligent for once?
Here's some. I challenge you in all dignity to try and think anything that has come from this isn't significant.
HELL EVEN JEANS COME FROM AMERICA! Those tight jeans I KNOW you stare at on girls asses. They started out during the gold rush when pioneers needed a more sturdy material for their pants when they worked all day.
Fashion
Main article: Fashion in the United States
Apart from professional business attire, fashion in the United States is eclectic and predominantly informal. Blue jeans were popularized as work clothes in the 1850s by merchant Levi Strauss, a German immigrant in San Francisco, and adopted by many American teenagers a century later. They are worn in every state by people of all ages and social classes. Along with mass-marketed informal wear in general, blue jeans are arguably U.S. culture's primary contribution to global fashion.[22]
[edit]Theater
Main article: Theater in the United States
Theater of the United States is based in the Western tradition. Today, it is heavily interlaced with American literature, film, television, and music, and it is not uncommon for a single story to appear in all forms. Regions with significant music scenes often have strong theater and comedy traditions as well. Musical theater may be the most popular form: it is certainly the most colorful, and choreographed motions pioneered on stage have found their way onto movie and television screens. Broadway in New York City is generally considered the pinnacle of commercial U.S. theater, though this art form appears all across the country. Off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway diversify the theater experience in New York. New York's Theater District is also the largest in the country with Cleveland's being the second largest. Another city of particular note is Chicago, which boasts the most diverse and dynamic theater scene in the country. Regional or resident theaters in the United States are professional theater companies outside of New York City that produce their own seasons. Often tiny rural communities are able to awe audiences with extravagant productions.
[edit]Television
Main article: Television in the United States
Television is one of the major mass media of the United States. Ninety-seven percent of American households have at least one television set and the majority of households have more than three.[citation needed]
The US can be said to be the homeland of modern network television.
[edit]Music
Main article: Music in the United States
American music can be heard all over the world. Live music is especially popular with bands and solo artists. American popular music also contains many styles of music that developed in the US and were popular music when they came up (or still are). Examples are hip-hop, Rap, House Music, Techno Music, Dance, swing, jazz, blues, country, R&B, funk, pop, Metal, rock & roll, and various others.
[edit]Films
Main article: Cinema of the United States
American films are very popular, including icons like Star Wars, The Godfather, Rocky, Jaws, The Terminator, and The Matrix. American movie actors and actresses are recognized such as Robert Redford, James Stewart, Al Pacino, Charlton Heston, Brad Pitt, Grace Kelly, George Clooney, Will Smith, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, James Cagney, Denzel Washington, Marlon Brando, Johnny Depp and Clint Eastwood. Outside the US, American cinema is usually referred to in a generalizing manner as Hollywood.
[edit]Dance
Main article: Dance in the United States
There is great variety in dance in the United States, it is the home of the Lindy Hop and its derivative Rock and Roll, and modern square dance (associated with the United States of America due to its historic development in that country—nineteen U.S. states have designated it as their official state dance) and one of the major centers for modern dance. There is a variety of social dance and concert or performance dance forms with also a range of traditions of Native American dances.
On Topic, If the OP is still reading this.
THIS. Go to a baseball game. (some leagues play all year long) Have a home made (or mom and pop store) cooked apple pie.
actually yes. That is why people immigrate. They want the same opportunities, to be able to express their religion and beliefs. To get away from the oppressive culture that may influence them in some middle eastern, Eastern European or Asian country.

We have tons of immigrants as well, but that doesn't prove we got a culture. Your point is not valid...
Hey, OP, make sure you get to a Medieval Times show. They're pretty kickass, last I checked.
We have tons of immigrants as well, but that doesn't prove we got a culture. Your point is not valid...
I wasn't referring to culture in that post. I was agreeing with your apparently sarcastic and horribly informed post.
oh hey, he has 666 posts. How ironic.
THAT AWESOME MOTHER FUCKERS AVATAR ABOVE ME!
Isn't that boo radly from To Kill a Mockingbird? It looks really familiar. American literature is one of a kind too. I suggest reading some books that take place in the south. Some good classics to get you in the mood.
We have tons of immigrants as well, but that doesn't prove we got a culture. Your point is not valid...
If we had art, would you consider us to have our own culture?
If so, let me formally invite you to New York for a personal tour of the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
So much rage in such a tiny thread, shame on you guys. You derailed the fuck out of it.
OP, goto the beach and then get some Mexican food and poop your brains out.

Or the MOMA.
You should go to Portland, Oregon.
It certainly has a culture of it's own...
I was in the us for 5 weeks last year.
From my experience: in terms of architecture and history sdon't expect too much. They highly value "old " stuff that a european would laugh about. Many many things are fake and can be described "trying too hard".
What's awesome: the people. Talk to them. Everyone has a great backstory about their ancestors.
What's awesome but frightening: the spirit. They really have this spirit of "just do it". I've seen many people, shops and ppaces where people just started doing what they wanted. I've met a petrol station owner in redwood forest who tried to sell me the station because he wanted to be a hunter. Many examples of great success and great failure induced by a fairly huge amoumt of naiveness.
It's unique.

Yeah, the US has loads of freedom if you're either white, male or Christian.
That, and economic opportunity.
That may be what they think, but it's certainly not the reality. Which is the main reason why many immigrants are not only oppressed but also work in shitty peasant jobs. Many Middle Eastern folk still retain the thought of the US being in the 1950's, which was actually its golden age.
And it is estimated that by 2050, the US will lose its economic foothold in the world. Main reason being the mind blowing debt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_public_debt and economic failure.
Or the MOMA.
I said the Met since my dad works there. I'm not fucking kidding. If he comes to New York, I will get him a tour.
Poland however has virtually zero presence inside the United States and yet I imagine they still see American films and television like everyone else.
There's lot of Poles in Chicago.
Yeah, the US has loads of freedom if you're either white, male or Christian.

Hey look once again someone brings up the debt and "economic failures" of the United States.
Just like they did in the 1930s and the slumps before that.

Cleveland too.

I've been there. That huge bookstore is awesome as well as the street festivals. The rose garden is ok but more interesting are the insanely expensive but awseome houses next to it.
[editline]9th February 2011[/editline]
II've also been to sanfran. Been to the DeYoung museum. The Us has great art with a lot of self criticism.

The whole economic situation is where a lot of ignorance arises. Economy isn't completely about money. The United States still has the worlds largest economy.
Pure american culture...
I'd consider rock music and jazz as american culture.
