well i am home from school test is in less then 24 hours... I do not want to be in the military so why am I doing this?
I took the ASVAB in highschool when I was in JROTC. It's piss easy as long as you aren't an idiot. I know a guy who isn't very smart, sometimes I swear he should have been in special ed and he got like 20 points. You'll probably do fine.

However that guy is one of the few people I know who has a job. :sigh:

I think I got like 70 or something.
It's out of like 100 isn't it? I used to have my test results laying around.
They recently changed the passing score to like 35 or something, in fact, they changed it the day before one of my friends went to take it and i think it used to be 30.
Well, he got a 30.
There *are* waivers. Why, I'm not sure exactly--but there are.
There really is no way to prepare other than knowing how to do simple math and having basic English skills. I honestly don't know how people can get scores below 60.
I know someone who got like a 9 on the ASVAB. He is no longer going for the Marine Corps.
Instead, he's studying Nursing.
Also, I got a 92 on my second attempt(88 on the first). No studying. Bombed the auto shop portion though.
Many of my friends have taken it and have scored high, just need a little knowledge in every subject they say
If you can manage to score a 93 or above, you will pretty much get to be whatever you want.
Get your testicles out and whop them on the desk.
Instant pass.
And then let someone stamp "Property of US Government" on them.
If you can manage to score a 93 or above, you will pretty much get to be whatever you want.
if you manage to score 85 or above, you'll pretty much get to be whatever you want. Honestly, you'll probably get whatever you want with anything about a 70.
I didn't study, all i did was a few practice asvab questions and i said "fuck it". I got a 92 and it was one the easiest tests of my life. The only difficult portion for me was the electronics section because i hadn't taken a physics or electronics course.
You could prepare by watching the magic school bus.
Thats how I prepare for any science test.
Don't join for the money you idiot. Join because you wanna fight bad guys/ patriotism etc...
Seriously when you're at boot camp and the DI i screaming in your face "WHY ARE YOU HERE MAGGOT" and you say "for the money" he is going to go completely batshit fucking loco.
Furthermore, if i was a soldier I wouldn't want a guy in my squad covering my ass when the only reason he was there was for money.
i don't like being a pawn of the government...
Yeeeah, watch out for the Chemtrails, "freethinker".
The ASVAB is such a joke. I took it without ever practicing or studying at all the first time and got a 91. Just an example I remember from the language part one of the questions was "If something is OBLITERATED, it is ____, (A)FIXED (B)DESTROYED (C)LARGE (D)STERN."
You'd have to be a complete buffoon to fail the ASVAB, just the kind of people we don't need.
I heard people pursuing programming will need to take a second test. Is this true?

Everyone has their own reasons, be it money, school, chicks, etc. Someone who would refuse to work with someone because their reasons for enlistment didn't conform to their view of how the world should work is utterly childish.

Who in there right mind would join the army to fight bad guys

Indeed EVERYONE except this kid from Texas that is fucking crazy and joining the Marines is doing it for the education benefits.
We need a Goons in Platoons subforum.
You joined the Army for the money?
A manager of a McDonald's makes more than me. And I have been in for 4 years.
I'm a 25C. I scored a 93 on the ASVAB which made me qualified for Signal MOS's. I'm obsolete. Promotion points are threw the roof, so promotions don't come for me that easily.
But when it comes to civilian job market a 25 series is where it's at. Networking and cable laying.
There is no said way to study. It just a basic test of high school and technical school knowledge. It's all practical questions. Not to difficult.
There are books and cds that you can use to study, basically practice tests and you practice what you got wrong.

Reclass to 25B, you won't regret it. Been doing it for almost 6 years, no regrets. Of course, two of those years were deployed, but whatever.
Asvab is piss easy, I didn't study at all and made a 86 which qualified me for just about every job you could possibly have, don't sweat it.
well I am off 35 minutes till the test wish me luck!
Late, but luck has been wished into your general direction.
Who in there right mind would join the army to fight bad guys
the good guys of course
Someone who would refuse to work with someone because their reasons for enlistment didn't conform to their view of how the world should work is utterly childish.
If you were in the middle of the shit, would you want the guy watching your back to be there because he genuinely wanted to be and believed in what he was fighting for, or just there for the money/because otherwise he would go to jail/because he got drafted?
the good guys of course
Do you really think the world is that 2 dimensional?
And whatever reasons you join up for, that isn't the reason you fight in the end. All soldiers fight for the man stood next to him - that's how it works. You might join up because you hate terrorism, or because you love the educational benefits, but whatever reason you joined up you're not going to let the man stand next to you die. That's all that counts.
ASVAB is a idiot test, as long as you aren't one you're ok.
Prepare your anus.

Same here.
I wasn't prepared for the math with no calculator thing. I had long since forgotten how to long divide and it took me ages to perform complex subtraction because of my dependency on calculators. I scored a 54.
The thing with the ASVAB is your score isn't supposed to be read as "Oh, I got 54 right out of 99 problems." It's supposed to be read as "I did better than 54 people out of 99." If you get above a 50, you can get into anything you want to really.
At least, that's what I was told. And my recruiter would never lie to me. Right? Right guys?
