Middle school was shit when I was in it. People thought they were the shit, everyone smoked weed (Not saying it's a bad thing, just people paraded it around so much it was fucking annoying) and the teachers did shit all about misbehaving kids in the classroom. It was hell to try and learn in it. With High School, you have variety in what classes you take. If you are more academic, take the advanced placement (or whatever the step up from normal classes is called). You will have more people willing to learn, and actually are nice. If you decide to go with the lower academic classes, everyone and their DOG will be in that class, so expect troublemakers and loudmouthed assholes.
God damnit, I'm not looking forward to school this year.
I know about 7 people from the high school where I am going to go. And 3 of them are my classmates

I'm a senior at my highschool. And there's like only three or four gay guys who are "out of the closet".
In middle school there was bicuriosity running rampant.
So, I don't know what kind of high school you attend, but I wish I went there.

Try not to break ties with other people if you don't have to. I had a hot temper one day last year and I ended up losing a nice table at lunch. Luckily, I had another friend in the same lunch period.
If you someone find that your friend count is lacking, just become acquaintances with people. If you are a friendly enough person, you should be able to tag up with them in the event a group project pops up or something along those lines.
To be honest, all schools are different. Let's just hope your school is a good one and the teachers keep traditions like that from happening.
Anyway, high school isn't as bad as you think. I started it last year and I was kind of surprised. You have more responsibility so you're treated more like an adult. Make friends, work hard, and just know that no matter where you go there will always be some idiots.

I guess I'm lucky, since my school is brand new, It was only freshman and Sophomores, this year Freshmen, sophomores and Juniors, etc, so I've only had to deal with a grade above me.

Don't fuck up your freshman year, it's just as important as your senior year. Some people think that it's just their freshman year, so they fuck around, but this will affect their overall grades.

Freshman year was extremely easy holy fuck. I flew through Freshman year with perfect straight As no problem. Same with Sophomore year and the rest, though they got a little complicated once in a while, just listen in class and remember things/write down notes; it'll help you a lot.
DO NOT shit all over your grades in Freshman year. I've had some friends do that and they're suffering with getting into colleges.
Also, get friends, seriously. Everyone is shy on the first few days of Freshman year. Go make some friends, say "Hi, my name is blahblahblah, what's yours?" or something. No one knows each other yet, so make friends now so it's easier. They won't make fun of you if they don't know you yet, especially when they don't know anyone yet. Friends make high school so much better. I have this one friend, who's a giant geek, and he only had 3 acquaintances throughout all of his entire high school years, no serious friends. He never talked to any girls, never hangs out with anyone, he stays quiet in ALL of his classes EVERYDAY for 4 years, even in lunch. The only time he talks is when we're on the bus on the way home. I'm probably his only real friend because he's been my friend since second grade. He's really smart though and he's one of the only friends I have that has the most similarities to me (Internet surfer, computer nerd, PC gamer, etc.) and actually has some above average intelligence unlike many of my other friends. I even think he's smarter than me (Though, I'm not that smart).
Don't end up like my friend here, sure, it's good to be smart, but be smart and make friends at the same time. Might sound hard but try to be funny, that always works. Worked for me at least. It feels great to make your friends laugh. But my friend he's really funny too, but he was probably too shy to talk to people. I'm not sure how he will live his future life; he doesn't seem to have a life long goal at all. I don't know how he will end up and I'm a bit worried. I don't even have any way to contact him. He has no cell phone, no Facebook, no AIM, MSN, no way to communicate, and he doesn't even use email; he won't tell me his house address for some odd reason.
Make friends and make sure you don't hang out with the wrong people. They can be a bad influence and can affect your grades and your future life. Get some good friends, who have good grades, and they can help you out with homework and stuff. Good luck. High school can either be a great or a horrible experience. Aim for the great.

Chicks are pointless when you feel depressed cause you cant be yourself to your friends. Besides, if you're in the 'cool' group girls will only date you because of your status, not because of who you are. And don't expect your 'cool' friends to be there when she breaks your heart and you slit your wrists off.
You'll really regret being an idiot in highschool when you fail your last year. I'm going to college in September, it's going to be amazing.
