Anyone against social justice who spouts off these kinds of talking points are themselves the victim of echo chamber group think.
I am against social justice that turns a blind eye to the misrepresentation of 'minorities' in that they can not be racist. I am against the very notion of people using social justice as a soap box to stand on to make people submit to their bidding. In my opinion 3rd wave feminism and the blanket term 'social justice' are becoming more of a detriment to their agenda because of the way activists are being perceived because of the pseudo-nazi like tenancies of the way they dictate how things should be. This video, regardless of context exhibits an accurate representation of dysfunction among the activists(or sjw's, whatever you want to call them) in regards to opposing opinions.
Anyone against social justice who spouts off these kinds of talking points are themselves the victim of echo chamber group think.
Anybody using the word 'social justice' in just about any context should not be taken seriously, including you I don't like this channel, but this is the one video where they're on point
Anybody using the word 'social justice' in just about any context should not be taken seriously, including you
Fuck this. Social Justice had an established and positive meaning before SJWs became a thing, don't make the fact that the term "Social Justice Warrior" has caught on ruin that. And don't claim that Social Justice has no battles left to fight either. You can still legally be fired for being LGBT in many US states.
did you even watch the video? SJWs weren't even mentioned in it
I got halfway through it to the point where it started claiming that Social Justice was about big government and how wealth redistribution is evil and I stopped watching. Which is funny because it completely contradicts his previous claims of "social justice has no clear meaning and means something different to every person" and then a few minutes later he starts talking about the "doctrines of social justice." I'm sorry, if Social Justice is such a disorganized term, how does it have "doctrines"?
yeah you completely missed the point not surprising as you seem to be the exact type of social justice champion that the video talks about [editline]13th November 2015[/editline] It talks about 'doctrines' because all those many definitions/interpretations have some things in common, as pointed out by the video. How was that a difficult concept to grasp?

You going to find out there are types of people who are able to listen to you and digest what you say, then there the types where you going to feel you're talking to the wall.
Everyone even looking at this fucking video is making a problem out of thin air. Including me for giving this trainwreck thread and video another view.
The best thing to do when it comes to people like this is to not give them attention. Sensationalism is exactly what they're looking for, because sensationalism draws in power. Word about them gets spread, they infiltrate the media, and people go to join their cause. It's not just this person doing it, but it's pretty much everyone now, and with that comes responsibility of viewership. Be careful of how you react to outrage.
just deal with it the superman vs the KKK way. make it a huge joke while blowing open how insane they are
The problem with that is that it creates a stigma that makes it easy to group people into. I'd rather give the right people a voice and not alienate everyone that has that position. (in reference to these people, not the KKK)

Racism, sexism, harassment, violence, I've even seen people go as far as to say that anyone who calls themselves an egalitarian instead of a feminist don't really want equality. Of course, these people have existed for a while. This should be no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention.
this would be more convincing if it was a black student saying it and not an asian
Oh my fucking god the top comments. How do people think like this!?
this would be more convincing if it was a black student saying it and not an asian
Asian people have a history of being oppressed based on their race, have to work much harder to get into college and have the least representation in western media. Strange how they get excluded from being underprivileged.
Asian people have a history of being oppressed based on their race, have to work much harder to get into college and have the least representation in western media. Strange how they get excluded from being underprivileged.
I mean, the reason is clear. The fight isn't for equal representation, equal treatment, etc. It's for equal result. That's the reason people constantly use differing statistics as evidence of racism even if there's no actual causal argument to be found. Asian people have in many areas passed whites in result. So they don't get to be part of the oppressed groups.
Man, this reminds me of my friend who went abroad to America to study not long ago, he will be staying there for one year and he said that so far the people there are not very friendly towards him except the family that he's staying with The people there said just almost the exact same thing to my friend, "go home chink" or something like that but my friend's English is so bad that he didn't even know he was being laughed at it's always this thing that scares me, to go abroad to study by yourself and the people there don't like you

The other kids said "she just making it up" so they would have a reason to be cruel to here. It was obvious she wasn't making it up. The point is, people are cruel, regardless if you are another race or for some other reason.
Trivializing racism because of an anecdote like this is kinda dumb
Im not trivializing it. I am saying people are arseholes no matter what the "excuse" may be.
Here are some more examples: - Calling someone a "tub of lard" doesn't mean you hate fat people. - Calling someone a "lazy eyed freak" doesn't mean you hate people with lazy eyes - Calling a short person a "midget" doesn't mean you hate short people - etc. etc. etc. People too often confuse general meanness and insensitivity with racism when it comes to racial insults. Do racist use racial insults? Yes! Do all racial insults mean the person saying them is racist? No! We should focus more on how it's not right to personally insult people in general. Kindness is sort of a dying virtue in the public eye.

The part they don't mention is that social justice is a distinctly classical liberal/Enlightenment phenomenon, and the ideas go back as far as Thomas Paine and, later, John Stuart Mill. As a guy who would likely claim that his politics derive from classical liberalism, you'd think that he might understand social justice a bit better.

It's not critiquing every single idea found under the banner of "social justice."

It's right there in the video. Organized labor, racial equality, gender equality, etc. are all pretty basic subjects within social justice that the video paints with a broad "evil liberals and their big government" brush - while being profoundly ignorant of what the ideas actually mean and where they come from. That's what makes it funny. In fact, that's what makes a large portion of the Prager University videos so funny - it's transparently ignorant.
