Don't outdo yourself man.

OP and his Pa.
OP, shoot a hot loaded .44.
.22lr is the most pointless shit ever to buy. It is virtually useless, even for target practice. If you think that .22 will train you to shoot 5.56x45 or 7.62x39mm, maybe even 7.62x51mm then you are very off. The recoil is so non comparable (Ok, you might be able to compare 5.56x45 to a certain extent) that you would only hurt yourself by getting used to the gun.
What about plinkers? Isn't it way cheaper than most calibers?
I thought the title was "Just got back from shooting my class"
Well, you see, I am just starting out with actual guns. I've been doing BBs and Pellets and Airsoft since younger, so I think I'll progress slowly.
I was 14 when I shot my first gun, which was an SKS. No need to be such a sissy, just shoot what you think is fun.I mean hell, I didn't know shit about guns when I first shot one. If you really did learn about safety, then you shouldn't worry about shooting bigger guns right away.
What about plinkers? Isn't it way cheaper than most calibers?
You can get a box of 500 .22lr rounds for around 20 bucks
Yeah get a 1911 so you can clean it every day or so
Kimber 1911, Glock 22-24 (<3 glock 23), Colt Python, or a Smith & Wesson .38 Special are all good handguns. FN five sevens are supposed to be pretty awesome too, if you can afford the expensive ammunition.
First choice would be Kimber though.
I hate Glocks, the only one I would ever consider owning is an 18c.
buy two so you can akimbo at the shooting range! be cool like this man!

Why would you ever want a five seven
I hate Glocks, the only one I would ever consider owning is an 18c.
Glocks are reliable, lightweight, and are really fucking durable (glocknade excluded)
Only gripe I could actually see in a glock is the shitty sights and trigger pull.

You're a retard if you join the army. If you are going to join the armed forces, go navy or air force.
Hey guys, we should ignore that last statement and not derail this thread and turn it into a "What branch is the best branch?" thread.
Hey, I'm 13 and I shot several guns. Does this require me to make a thread?
/sarcasm
Did you shoot an intervention!?
THAT GUN IS SICK MAN I DID LIKE 20 NO SCOPES IN MY CLASS MANGO!
I'm considering getting a permit, buying a weapon, and using the range often when I turn 21. If I were to get a handgun (Only such), what recommendations can you make for me? And don't redirect me to that other megathread or I'll sit on you.
Move to America and skip steps 1 and 3
Read the title as "Just got back from shooting up my classroom"

Well, a school shooting would be all over the news. Besides, do you think the average Facepuncher looks like this?

Hi,im almost 18 (2 months off) and used to be an avid shooter and a gun smith apprentice. About 10 months ago my dad pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge (for throwing water in my moms face) and we lost all our guns due to the "the Lautenberg Amendment". In all we lost about 15 guns and may never get them back (I forget when the destruction date is). Anyway I don't think you are going to get a lot of serious answers in this thread, but that doesn't matter a whole lot all you need to do is start off with a decent .22 handgun (Ruger Mark IIIs are nice) and when you are comfortable with your skill level buy maybe a 9mm Glock (17 or 19 is fine) and get some steel plates to practice on, then try out a few competions. When I hit 18 im going to start shooting again and start competing in a lot more competitions. Probably the first things im going to build are a AR-15 in 5.45, a Saiga 12, and some kind of vintage bolt action rifle (Mosin Nagant or a K 31). Just make sure you stay out of trouble with the law and have fun. :)
I fired a M9 Beretta, fun as hell,a glock 17, once again fun as hell, a revolver (not sure which one, a smith and wesson i think), which was fun as hell, and a 22. bolt action.
Except i didnt manage to fucking get to fire my fucking AK47 and other various weapons when i went to Bali >.<
I was so upset.

Yes
I hate Modern Warfare 2. And 1. I just generally dislike first-person shooters in all. I am, in no way, incorporating my favor for guns with with an awful FPS such as Modern Warfare 2.
If I ever had access to the vB admin panel I would just cut the bullshit and make GD redirect to a wordpress install
What are you, 5? You needed a private lesson to learn how to use a gun? Just go with your dad or some shit and if he's not a retarded asshole then he knows basic safety procedures (ear protection, keep it pointed downrange at all times, etc) and how to load a gun. Plus, a .22? Really? I think a 4 year old could fire a .22 with no problem.
OP attends one gun class.
Thinks he's expert.

Practically everyone starts with a .22. Always.
Neither are they weapons.
They are tools, that can be used as a weapon.
So if you have common sense, you should be able to pick up a Hammer, which means you should be able to pick up a Rifle and learn to operate it.
That's an awful comparison, a hammer is designed to bang nails into pieces of wood, but you can also use it as a weapon.
Guns are designed specifically to cause damage to other beings, calling it a tool is just plain stupid, its a weapon first, tool second.
Okay.. Glocks barely have any safety.. (If you consider that 3 stage trigger safety shit to be a safety, then you have obviously never handled a Glock)
This is really pathetic. When I was 13 I already knew how to take apart and put together AR-15s. When I turned 15 my Dad let me build my own AR-15, and now I basically own an armory of rifles.
You really, really shouldn't have wasted the money and time on a training class. There is a line between taking the hobby seriously, then taking it too seriously. You just crossed it.
I'm pretty sure you can't get a permit without taking some training courses. At least the state I'm in does this I'm pretty sure.
I'm pretty sure you can't get a permit without taking some training courses. At least the state I'm in does this I'm pretty sure.
Assuming you're in the US you're completely wrong.
Guns are designed specifically to cause damage to other beings, calling it a tool is just plain stupid, its a weapon first, tool second.
Guns are designed specifically as an apparatus to fire a projectile with optimum accuracy.
The projectiles are specifically designed to cause damage.
Shooting a gun isn't that all amazing. The safety procedures are common sense, and loading a magazine just requires tough fingers.
lol you noob i use a acog ak 47 with stopping power beat that
Pfft. I use a holographic site on my ACR with stopping power and FMJ.

For what? A CCL? You don't even need a CCL to own any firearms. Just to conceal one.
They don't teach you anything for that anyways. They just employ a Marine or something to sit there and act like he is teaching you something.
OT: Also I used Serenity 2.5 to dick around on your TNB shit Valdor. Twas' good shit DM'ing everyone on your CP.
