How old are you LifeIsGood? I remember getting my first .22 when I was 8.
you probably got your first gun when you were 8 because you live in a backwoods place and you had to be taught to hunt your meals
I live in britain, therefore I have never really seen a gun before

My uncle (who happens to be quite wealthy) is planning on talking me out to go shoot hunting rifles with him in the spring, as well, of course, teaching me the proper stance for a rifle and how to load it and everything.
It will be my first time shooting a real gun, although I've shot my Airsoft pistol and sub-machine gun many times before.

Looking for one is a waste of time, just have them order you one.
You know though, out of all the guns I've ever shot or owned, my favorite one is still my glock. (Also one of the cheapest.)

I'm absolutely in love with that gun. It feels like it's impossible to miss a target with at any practical range, and it has very little recoil.
Plus it's the only normal full sized glock that comes with an extended slide release, which is an absolutely necessary upgrade on any glock. (Yes, I know the tactical/practical models have them, but they're very long guns.)
It uses a model 17 frame and fires a 45 caliber bullet, perfect combination really, even if you have to used a specialized round in it. The large frame glocks are very uncomfortable in my hand, even the SF models. Plus I love the look of the slide on it as opposed to other glocks, all the edges are rounded and streamlined instead of it just being a big square block.
I've also not done any trigger work to it either, out of the box it had a nearly flawless trigger, IMO. It's smooth and a good practical weight to be safe for CCW. I really like glock triggers anyway for a defensive firearm, you can lighten them considerably for $10 but I personally don't care for it.
I have a vintage WW2 M1 Garand, an M14, and a henry Lever action, come back and tell us when you get a Barret 50cal

unless its newer ones, but henrys are fucking shit.
it feels like a toy fuckin gun.
glolck nade... No seriously if you want a good gun someone can't just tell you what you will like. It all depends on several factors. How comfortable it is for you to hold, Weight, How easy it is for you to control the recoil, How much you have to spend, How easy it is for you to do regular maintence on.
My personal favorite gun I own is my Romanian Tokarev. I've shot many other guns and I still like my tokarev just as much.
I use a Smith and Wesson M&P Pro 9 for match shooting, it's a fun gun. 9mm and pretty much good to go out of the box. Reliable, and lightweight.

hoow is the pro 9? i've seen a lot of commercials for it on Versus, and I have also seen it fired a bunch of times, but it seems to me like a basic "starter" or "sport" gun.

It's just another flavor of the "tactical/practical" poly handguns.
Springfield has the XD tactical
Glock has the 35/34/17L
You can't go wrong with any of them, it just boils down to preference.
I had an XD40 tactical a long time ago, around when they first came out, and it was an excellent shooting gun. One of the only polymer framed pistols that was comfortable to shoot with 40S&W for me.
Just my own opinion, but I really dislike the look of the M&P poly guns.
50 cal sniper, and if you put the stock an inch away from your nose, enjoy a broken nose after you shot.

12 gauge will do that as well, without a problem.
The 1st time I took my mossberg 695 to the range, I came home with my shoulder so busted up I had blood stains on my shirt.
That gun is excessively brutal.
