To be fair, those came out a few months later (even though they're closer to the iPhone 5S release than the S4).
just curious, what makes the TMO variants more battery efficient? differences in the LTE networks between the other carriers?

Probably better network reception from where they made the benchmarks.

that s5 released a long time after the 5s. of course a much newer (and bigger) phone is going to have a better battery life; the s4 and 5s are technically more comparable if we're going off of release date.

The point is phone wang comparison, the point is that that ad refers to the GS5 vs iPhone 5S, not the GS4. So the ad is correct in pointing out that Samsung phones have better battery life.
As for comparison, both are hard since the 5S was released between both the GS4 and GS5, in amount the same amount of time give or take.
lol. They used the Sony Smartwatch 2 in the wearable tech video. Poor Sony, why did they get dragged in to this :(
I'm totally in favor of mocking Apple but these are just simply not funny. They're a chore to watch.
Why all the hate for iPhone, they're good devices too, and people forget that.
Also the videos in the OP are awkward and plainly wrong in most cases. Battery life is a real issue, however it's not that bad. (And it's an issue for all phones).

A fairer comparison to the S5 (April 2014) and M8 (March 2014) would be the iPhone 6, as the release date will be closer together rather than the 5 and 5c.
When people have a face that you just want to smack? That guy in the glasses is one of em, what a mong.
I guess this is relevant.

they don't fill it to the brim with shit bloatware
tmobile just throws their TV app and account app on your phone if you buy it from tmobile
Verizon/AT&T/etc. throws on shit like NFL mobile, Amazon, evernote, etc. and you can't ever remove it.
