If seatbelts weren't required, a lot more deaths would have happened. Many people don't think of what can happen when they get into a crash, not because they're dumb, but because it's a cultural thing. You look more badass if you don't care if you wear a seatbelt.

If meth was legal like alcohol is, there would be about the same if not more deaths caused from meth. Alcohol is only legal because of the prohibition, not because it's somehow non-threatening.
