People who are depressed and thinking of sucide 10 years later wish they never had those thoughts, and are glad when a government run or privately run program steps in and helps them out.
Drunk drivers are ashamed when they hear that the person they just killed would have been saved had the victums wore a seatbelt.
People addicted to drugs feel worthless when they get addicted to drugs and cannot stop themselves. They feel abandoned and unwanted. They wish someone would have stopped them before they even got into drugs. Some people don't even get this far when they end up overdosing their first or second time.

Drug use is a small percentile of the population, that small percent still keeps up effeciency. Some regular office workers, you'd never know it, but they're high as fuck on speed, and they're working extremely well. Drugs are personal, and the government is telling me what I can and can't do with my property. This is not their right, I should, and by all means, else wise, am, free to do what I want with my body albiet providing I don't harm anyone else in the process. Does my drug use harm anyone? No, if it did, my actions are already illegal. I'm in jail anyways, no one should be able to get off by saying it was the drugs.

You go take a psychology course. Someone who wants to kill themselves can do so for hundreds of reasons, not all of those render him insane, not even many of them do. Whether or not they're thinking correctly isn't the argument, it's their right, their body, not the governments. Is it ok if the government decides that the TV in your house is now theirs when you just paid for it? Is it ok for the government to tell you that your job is theirs now? Your wife? The line should be drawn before it even gets to the point where they can tell you anything about your own body.

I don't want to be treated like a 5 year old, I've been depressed before, but i've never needed intervention. This does not mean that everyone else doesn't. I'm not telling them how they should feel, I'm saying wanting to live a life is the normal, correct way of thinking. If you don't know that, you need to update your current knowledge.
Of course you can sit back and say "If i wanted to kill myself I would want the option to do it", but if you ever really had those thoughts, you wouldn't want those thoughts. You would want to a happy life.
