Because molding and pulling ceramics clay is the exact same thing as play-dough, right?

It is?
It looks like it has an anus for a red light.
I don't like it at all and I can't comprehend how it got Highlighted, sorry.
The sculpting is all too blobby, the shapes are far from refined.
As for the painting it's all over the place. Couldn't you've tried to keep the seam going down the middle completely black (or completely white if that was the plan) since right now it's 50 percent black and 50 percent white.
It's a nice idea, though. I'll give you that.
I love it.
It made me feel like trying myself in ceramics as well. :buddy:

Thanks for the C&C, but I'm probably never going to do ceramics again, and I'm not going to be taking Ceramics Studio. All I did was follow instructions, which was to create a piece using 3 techniques, and I decided to do it on one of my favorite games which is also the favorite game of many facepunchers, so I guess that's why it's highlighted.
Looking at the pieces of my other classmates, I'm glad that my mug came out in one piece.
It takes years to master the sweet art of pulling pottery, and our lesson was compressed down into a quarter of a semester where the teacher had us learn on our own by watching what he was doing and listening to his tips as he walked around to 20 maybe 30 students.
If you guys think you can make a better cup than this, then go ahead and make one and post it for us. I'd really like to see it coming from the masters of constructive criticisms you guys are. I don't claim to be a master of painting or ceramics, nor a master sculptor since there was absolutely no sculpting involved in this (there's a separate class for that), I'm just a 16 year old kid with a portal 2 mug.
tl;dr
I don't really give a shit about what you say about the paint or the shape, because at the end of the day I'm the guy with the cow mug.

Would you care if I said that I liked it?
If yes, then why the selective attention? :(
Cow mugs are best mugs.
Wait a second, isnt mugs another word for boobs?
ew cow boobs

jugs - boobs :)
Give the guy a break, he made this for school. this is alot more effort than a lot of us put into art class. i remember in art class in 6th grade i made a hand grenade when everyone else was chatting and making penises. everyone that i was weird for putting real effort into school projects. the teacher never fired it though. :[. she said it was too violent.
anyway, Keep up the work!
I've got ceramics next semester, I'm pretty excited about it.
I like it.
Now it only needs a little speaker and sensors so it plays the laser lines when you pour stuff in it and and the "put me down" ones when you pick it up.
"Aghh, aaagh! It burns." "Please put me down. Put me down!"
todo: Make a better mug.
Actually pretty cool though, good job
that's pretty cool. Nice work.
If it says "take me with you", I'll take it with me to McDonalds since their cups break down sometimes.
Crappy jokes aside, epic mug. If I were your teacher(or whatever), I would grade this with, idk, A+×+.
I'm guessing that would be like A+ multiplied by A+.
In other words, it's epic.
He meant that it looks like it has seams
He means it looks like shit, which is sorta does
I would have payed much more attention to detail, it looks like you just went for a generic egg shape, not trying to make it look at all robotic (You know, that smooth flawlessness machines have) but oh well
You made a Portal Mug, nice. I guess thats all I have to say
Creative idea, I like what you did for the handle.
It's just not very well executed.
Opened this thread, saw the first image, thought this was a vagina :v:
Wow in the first half a second when I saw the first picture I almost thought it was goatse. Was pleasantly surprised

the title of the concept piece was called "Fat Opera Turret Mug"
I got a 100% on the piece so I don't really care anymore.

Good for you!
Now you should make a tutorial on how to make mugs.
It's a great idea. Ashame you won't be doing ceramics again, though.
I made a Longcat sculpture in 7th grade, but it's terrible, and ear broke a few years ago.

Should've made a snake and if she had offered to burn that one, explain that although a handgrenade has a kill radius on 8 meters, it cannot be compared to the average 340 rodents a regular corn snake will eat in a lifetime.
What a bitch of a teacher.
Ah, I wish I had access to a ceramics studio so I could redo that piece with proper tools, it has so much potential. Maybe I'll mock one up in some other sort of clay.
Looks like an anus
