Yeah because all the games look great in their pre alpha
You could say that the features are pretty much set at this moment and in my opinion its far to stale to live up to the 'true zombie apocalypse' hype they build up with this. It just looks to arcadish
Yeah because all the games look great in their pre alpha
If they're releasing videos then chances are they are satisfied with how the game looks, sounds, and feels, otherwise they wouldn't show it. Sure, some things will be tweaked between now and release but don't expect much more than you just saw.
I honestly don't give a fuck who ripped who off, if they make a product that's similar to Day z, but better, then kudos to them, doesn't affect me that "omg they copied day Z/War Z" as long as it makes for a good game a little healthy competition might be good [editline]4th October 2012[/editline] Though I really wish there was a game like this based on the 1940's-70's, having thermal scoped assault rifles seems kind of lame when fighting zombies.
Looks like an action game with zombies and minor survival elements in it.
Yeah because all the games look great in their pre alpha
It's not pre-alpha if beta access is open to people on October 31st.
This just looks too much like Day Z to be a coincidence.
I am a little worried at how little Recoil the guns seem to have though, part of the thrill in Day Z was that the guns were hard to use if you were careless/panicking, making for more intense gunfights
It looks like CoD.
Seems a bit too cartoony and less zombie-focused. I get Killing Floor-vibes. How can it really feel like a zombie apocalypse when you're running around full-pelted like that with backpack volumes the likes of Half-Life inventories? Still, if it's stable, consistent and plays as good as DayZ even with it's more arcade-ish approach then it can easily overtake it. I just hope they change the animations, get better sounds and improve the UI.
isn't this just a pvp-oriented portion of the game specifically for this footage of course its going to be less zombie-focused
More games can never be bad, but I really prefer Day Z above what The War Z has shown up till now. Day Z is to zombie games what Arma 2 is to other shooters, and not just because they're the same engine. It throws a lot of tedious things at you that aren't always fun but they do massively increase the immersion. The bugs and hackers can be dealt with over time, that I don't worry too much about.
The vignetting is retarded. I kept getting a really weird claustrophobia feel when watching first person gameplay, and I think it's due to the fact that the edges of the screen are blurred out for no particular reason. And the viewmodels are goddamn huge. So are the trees, but that's more of a nitpicky thing. I've been watching all of these videos and really trying to want to play this game, but it just doesn't look very appetizing.

I dunno, I always had this feeling of being watched, and this feeling of true desperation while playing Day Z, doesn't seem like this game could replicate those emotions very well that feel when you get into an unexpected gunfight in Day Z after being alive for 20 hours is one that I've never felt in any other game before
Same with the first time you snipe an unsuspecting player. That feeling you get knowing how easy it was for and how easily it could have happened to you.
Part of DayZ's problem was that it was running off ArmA's clunky as fuck military sim controls. I highly doubt they'll be better in ArmA 3
if you watch videos of arma 3 in action you can see a lot of work has been put into the infantry movement and controls regardless, the clunkiness works in dayz's favour in a lot of ways. the slow movement, clunky gear management, near enough inability to shoot while moving, and all the rest that comes with arma 2's milsim engine helps create the tension and difficulty that dayz is famed for. while it obviously needs to be hugely ironed out, especially with regards to movement and gear bugs (falling damage, randomly losing shit, etc), i see that style of 'clunky' movement far better fitting for this genre of game than warz's apparent strafe shooting and instant gear access... i mean seriously, the player in OP's video switches from a G36 to a sniper rifle in an instant and starts scoping away while moving. i can't understand how there'll be any tension created with controls like this. fair-enough if this is just a tensionless pvp game where the zombies are absolutely no threat at all, but that isn't what i'm looking for and that makes it pretty incomparable to dayz
That G36 model is horrid.
It's OK for horror/survival games to have clunky controls if it serves the gameplay (make combat challenging and heighten the sense of vulnerability), and ARMAII helped DayZ nail this.
Is this game still early in development? Most of the sounds HOPEFULLY should get replaced as well as the animations. Most games have lots of change before being sold to the public.
Looks like a dayz version that is TOO dumbed down. Would love a mix between those two.
watches pvp gameplay "wow guys this game is way too action oriented" uh
Shame the only reason people really dislike this is because it happens to look like DAYZ. As if they weren't working on it before DayZ, truth of the matter is it's not trying to be a clone of DayZ it was meant to be it's own game. I'm sure if this came out first people would be bitching about DayZ even if it was the same situation reversed.
Whats going to stop the people from just killing each other off at first sight?
Whats going to stop the people from just killing each other off at first sight?
Same thing that stops them doing it in DayZ. Oh wait there is no reason.
God, that sniper rifle noise is just BLUHH.
Same thing that stops them doing it in DayZ. Oh wait there is no reason.
WarZ is bringing back a karma-esque system where you can put out bounties on somebody who has killed you or something. However I don't see it changing much because I don't see how it'll be possible to stop people from shooting others on sight. Either they're worried that they'll be shot by others or they're assholes.
It looks not very fun just like DayZ does not look very fun.
I'd be willing to give it a try.

It just looks like a generic FPS with some zombies thrown in.
ooohh wow. watching that second video, just WAITING for either the guy he saved to shoot him or him to shoot he guy he saved
The inventory system looks like it isn't a complete piece of shit. Definite plus for it there.
