-I am stupid-
who thought making an episode on gamergate, which is relatively dead now would be a good idea
who thought making an episode on gamergate, which is relatively dead now would be a good idea
the same people who still think reddit meme rage faces are still funny
I really hope gamer gator is real
I wonder if they'll use that "It's actually about ethics" meme to really stick it to those evil gators
Comparing this reboot to Steven Universe isn't fair. I don't even watch the show and I even know that it is well written and animated way better.
Wait, who mentioned steve universe?
excuse shit tumblr formatting http://jitterbugjive.tumblr.com/post/142485553459
So I found something even more fucked up about this situation-
I'm so so sorry that the PPG unicorn episode offended so many people. When I wrote the premise, I didn't intend for it to be a parallel to the transgender person's plight, only a story about a horse who wanted to be a unicorn. I didn't know about the symbolism behind unicorns-- and feel ignorant for it! I feel passionately about my transgender friends, their struggles and especially the way they are treated by others, and media. I feel pained that I in anyway hurt a group of people I care about. I know the show creators and writers are awesome people, and intended the opposite of how the episode came off. My work on Pubertina and HOME (coming out on Netflix July 29th) hopefully should suggest I care greatly about the LGBT community. Truly sorry. Hugs. This is my apology. I can't speak for anyone else. Also, I'm not a permanent writer on the show, just helped with a few eps.
Source So not only was it probably some bigwig uptop who claimed it was about transgenderism, but they didn't even tell the writer who wrote the damn episode! (It probably also shows the quality of PPG when apparently most writers for it are temporary like Ms. Brundige is) It's pretty appalling what corporations will do to appear hip to the times.
Wait, who mentioned steve universe?
My mistake. I misunderstood what SVU meant. :v:
the same people who still think reddit meme rage faces are still funny
there was a time when they were?
there was a time when they were?
I'm sure to some people they were funny and still are. Just because you don't think something is funny doesn't mean no one thought it was funny. Unless you're talking about Johnny Test. [editline]7th May 2016[/editline] No one thought that was funny.
So who's ready for SVU v. 2?
God, SVU's gamer gate episode. I never did watch it but a friend was an extra and had me leak its existence to 8chan's /gamergate/ board for them a couple weeks prior to announcement. Did an AMA on KiA by request when I pointed out a few weeks later it was confirmed not bullshit. Even setup a Skype room and linked it on the AMA. I think I still got some Twitter and Reddit account alts I have incase I need to prove that someday. How did the Powerpuff girls one get leaked? Can't really have extras on an animation.

I bet its going to have high premiere ratings because everyone is going to watch it so see how bad it's going to be. :v:
But there's 0 chance for them to reboot MXLR outside of Adult Swim. It was way too much of a counter-culture show, what with the decrepit imagery of Jersey, sci-fi locations, anime-esque style and inspiration, constant parodying of other media, arguably the most extreme violence/fighting on CN, and Coop as the main driving force behind the plot. And changing any of that would already threaten ruining the entire point of the show. Unlike PPG, making it topical would also be way harder. I mean holy shit is NewPPG topical. It doesn't even seem like something children would understand easily, let alone have fun watching.
Well there's always this. I disagree about Megas not being topical, most of it was just it's own brand of lunacy, but there were a few contemporary points here and there
Megas XLR was the shit, I need to rewatch that.
yeah you do and hey, let's talk about good cartoons for a moment. I just discovered Wander Over Yonder, and it's fucking fantastic. Why have i never seen anyone talking about this thing before? They got away with saying "pressed ham" and "Brown starfish" in an episode all about butt jokes on a disney channel. How the fuck? It's like doctor who starring Zoe from SSX as a dinosaur thing and bugs bunny's insane orange cousin, and one episode has a polka death battle duel with a clown bannana playing an according with his mustache amid clever plots and the occasional tasteful reference. Go watch this thing right now

WOY is great and it sucks Disney is canning it
is canning it? They literally canned it halfway through the first season because it doesn't fit their demographic push, be glad they gave it two.
They are canning it. Yet greenlite 3 other cartoons. One involving a super manly earthworm from the future. It's a real damn shame. WOY had everything that made older cartoons great. I hate the whole "it's not for our target demographic' argument. Seems like a stupid excuse just to cancel a show for no reason.

Not exactly. [t]http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/disney/images/5/5c/Future_Worms.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150224170539[/t]
You probably need to reread that because they canned it midway through the first season, they just decided to talk about it now. It still takes animation quite a while to hit the screen even under modern conventions, Disney had made up their mind quite some time ago.
Unfortunately, the higher up bosses of bosses of bosses at Disney decided not to continue with the show. It’s not that they didn’t like Wander, they just felt that 2 seasons and 80 cartoons was enough and they didn’t see the need to produce any more. For the record, this decision had nothing to do with the ratings performance of S2. Truth be told, we were informed that we wouldn’t be continuing before S2 even premiered.

I hate the whole "it's not for our target demographic' argument. Seems like a stupid excuse just to cancel a show for no reason.
eeeeeeeh Okay, listen, I don't like that excuse as much as anyone else. But in this Netflix world of ours where channels are losing viewers constantly and need to focus on getting butts in front of TVs, it's not an awful excuse. I mean, there are some awful excuses, like they can't sell enough toys or 'ewww a show with a female lead? but boys don't watch shows with female leads!'. But let me ask you a question: you seem to like Wander Over Yonder. Do you watch it on television or do you watch it online? Many cartoon channels still have a rocky relationship with online (remember how two years ago Nick putting Korra episodes exclusively online meant the network had given up on it?), so it's not a surprise when we find out that when it comes to shows staying on air, the opinion of people who watch it online (and many of those people aren't even watching it on the channel's actual website) doesn't matter as much as the people watching it on TV. I mean, one day it will (and then hopefully we can travel back in time and save Young Justice or something like that), but right now, it doesn't. So between choosing something that's guaranteed to bring the eyes the network wants or choosing something that'll be beloved and adored by the people who won't watch your channel, I think anyone who wants to keep their job would go for the first one.
Disney wouldn't know quality if it slapped them in the face.
So we're just gonna ignore their Star Wars and marvel work and recent animation like zootopia and wreck it Ralph?
I was talking about their television department. They always air a bunch of duds before they finally get a decent TV show running.
So we're just gonna ignore their Star Wars and marvel work and recent animation like zootopia and wreck it Ralph?
We're talking about their television shows that aren't from already established universes like Star Wars and Marvel. Plus, Zootopia and Wreck It Ralph are full-scale movies and couldn't easily translate to TV without being creature of the week
